What tyre pressures do you run your vrs on?

Featured Replies

I know the official figures, and I've searched and found a few scraps of info for other models... but what pressures do you guys run on your vrs's? I know a few of you run slightly higher :)

thinking the standard seems a little low

  • 38 all round. Have experimented and i prefer higher pressures. It also helps to improve fuel economy.

Me too. Well, about 80% nitrogen. Hang on, that IS normal air! Have tried helium, but the car felt a bit 'floaty'.

  • ....and to think I've been running the standard recommended 32PSI all round....   I may experiment after reading this thread!

The standard pressures may look low on paper, but if set with an accurate gauge while the wheels are still cold (0 miles travelled) then the tyre wears evenly and all is OK, however if you drive to the garage and then pump them up, they will then be set too low. Also most gauges and portable air pumps are optimistic, so again the real pressure is too low...

I work with calibration and getting an accurate gauge in the high street stores is near impossible sadly.:(

I run 34psi all round....

36 front , 34 rear

Hankook Ventus V12 Evo all round, 36psi front, 34psi rear. Might reduce the fronts to 34 when the temperature starts droppping and the roads get a bit slippier.

whoa lots of different views :) think its time for some experiements

When I got fed up of feeling every stone on my driveway individually through the steering, I let them back down to 32. I then go for a drive and feel the tyres flexing under cornering and promptly put them back up to what I was running before.

32 all round for me although ive thought about going higher

I guess it also depends on the tyre you are running and how stiff the sidewalls are. SWMBO's fabia vrs 36psi front and 32psi rear

I think it would be better to add what tyres you're on. I run mine on:

Pirelli P Zero Nero 205/45 ZR 16 - front 2.5bar (36.3psi), rear 2.4bar (34.8)

Toyos (215/40) 35 front - 33 rear.

Ive got 17" TT Comp alloys on 205/45's i think and dont really know what pressure to run them on, ive gone for 32 all round. What do you reckon?

Hankook Ventus V12 Evo all round, 36psi front, 34psi rear. Might reduce the fronts to 34 when the temperature starts droppping and the roads get a bit slippier.

Having had a look at the "footprint" of my rear tyres I might reduce the rears to 32psi as around 10% of each side of the tyre is not in contact with the ground. I never/rarely have any weight on the back so I expect it I don't let them down then the centres will wear out too quickly.

The footprint of the front tyres seems to be perfect at 36psi though; and tyre flex seems to be quite low/unnoticable.

Mine are set to the pressures that Skoda recommend, but i use Nitrogen instead of normal air.
