back in an Octy

Featured Replies

I've just traded my Roomster2 1.9 TDi in for an Octavia 1.8 TSi Ambiente in black magic. I have previously owned 2 Mk1 Octy vRS's and originally was looking at a 57 plate vRS, but after driving the 1.8 TSi decided it offered 80% of the performance in a more discreet package (at a considerable saving). Also no more cambelt changes (I've paid for 2 up to now ).

Anyway I'm dead chuffed with it and will post back with more thoughts once I've covered a few more miles.

Congratulations on your new car :)

Is the 1.8TSI chain driven then?

It sure is. Pity they all weren't

Agree there

If you've bought new from a dealer, did you ask about the free upgrade to Elegance Spec? The offer ends 30th September.

no it is second hand - registered March 2008 with 7K miles on the clock.

Sounds a nice motor - I would be interested as to what "real life" mpg you get out of it.

What with DPF and DMF problems, I think the chain-cam 1.8 might be the best option for us.

It is currently managing 28-30 mpg around town and around 41 mpg cruising on the motorway (according to the computer). I will post back with some "brim to brim" figures once I've filled it up a few times.

It does cruise well, pulling just under 2500 rpm at 70 mph in 6th. The power delivery is also very "diesel like", pulling well from just under 2K revs, but continuing to a very "un-diesel like" 6500 rpm:D.
