Symptons of a failing DMF?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys, what are the symptoms pf a failing DMF?

My TFSI sounds like a diesel when moving off under load, and if in neutral with foot off the clutch there's a chattering sound, which sounds like a clutch release bearing going...

Wanna know if this is normal before I head back to Skoda...

Cheers,

Dom

IIRC its only the diesels which have DMF poblems.I think your could be like you say release bearing or clutch related only.

^ As he said. sounds like a fooked clutch mechanism or thrust bearing :(

I have emailed the dealer I've brought it from as my local dealer is useless...(Westover)

I have said that even though the pedal movement is smooth the engagement of the clutch is not, making getting away in 1st tricky, aswell as changing between 1st>>2nd...

He's gonna speak with his tech guys...

No no don,t use Westover!!!!!!!!! ever they are all cowboys.

I use Meadens Skoda in Sway and they are a great dealer with 100% record.

I won't use Westover as they have never given me good service.

I'd say that meadens certainly were good.

IIRC its only the diesels which have DMF poblems.

And the 2.0 FSI.

My 2.0 FSI had the DMF replaced last week. 8000 miles from new.

No advance warnings at all. One day quite normal, next day the gear selection was almost impossible with the engine running but smooth as silk when switched off.

The Skoda Assist RAC technician was baffled. He called the dealer Service Manager who immediately suggested the problem over the phone and confirmed his diagnosis 5 minutes after the car arrived at the garage.

The repair was completed under Warranty the next day.
