Octavia Tdi stalling

Featured Replies

I know I've just joined but I've been searching for answers to my Q but can't find anything.

I did something really stupid and cleaned out my egr/shut off valve with Kerosene.Put it back on......and then the car ran on the fumes to about 3 million RPm and bent 4 con rods and melted the pistons doh!!!!!

Replaced 4pistons and rods, all top end gaskets and stem seals etc but now the car idles rough (3 and a half cylinders?) and stalls when the rpm drops below 850.So far I've done.......

Swapped all sensors with those of my mates 110 Bora (tdc, air mass, ecg valve)

Done compression test 400 across the board.

Cambelt timing 100 times!!No exageration!!!!

Changed injectors for known good ones.

Checked 109 (and swapped it)

Changed Fuel filter.

My question is this....

Can I swap my pump with my mates Bora one or is the immobiliser going to interfer???

BTW the crank isn't twisted with identical rise an fall of pistons and deck height.Any help appreciated!!!!!!!!

Egr valve sorry!!!Now work in medical proffesion!!!Sorry

Hmm. Sorry to hear all this. It could be the pump and as I recall you won't need to code it. The ECU and instrument cluster yes, need coding. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd take the pump off and take it to a Bosch shop and have it benched. If it's a minor fault or okay you shouldn't be charged much. Save messing around removing two, twice.

I take it you did use a computer to set the static timing? You should also view the individual IQ on each cylinder to see if they are widely different, indicating the engine is struggling to balance one or two cylinders because they are not firing and putting in lots of fuel to those cylinders to compensate.

Sorry, didn't use a computer since the car was fine before I took it apart to replace its internals.

All I can think is that the pump has been over revved and killed,or I've got some tappets that now are buggered since they're work out.Swapping pumps with my mates is no probs (since I bought him the car!!) I just didn't want to end up with 2 dead Tdi's.

So,I suppose the question now is,is the immobiliser in the pump?I do appreciate your answer but you also sound unsure.

I'll attach a scanner 2moro thanks again:thumbup:
