be gentle with me.............I'm new!

Featured Replies

Hello all! :wave23d:

This is my first 'proper' post so be gentle...........please.

I found this site by accident whilst doing a bit of research before taking the plunge and buying my shiny new octavia VRS (which is the BEST car I have ever owned)

The site had gone down when I got the car (last week) so ive been itching to get on and register.

Ive had a look through the forums and my first observation is that they are massive, and a little bit confusing (if i'm honest!) to first time users, so I wasn't really sure where to post these questions, so forgive me if they are in the wrong thread.

I got the car from 'lightcliffe skoda, huddersfield' who were excellent!

They advised me on a couple of questions i had for them and gave me prices.

My first was about upgrading the security system from the standard cat 2, to a cat 1 with alarm. This will cost me

Hi and welcome Tony.Excellent choice,as any Skoda would be IMHO, even the old ones wern't that bad........IMHO!!

Always gentle with newbies arn't we everyone! Can't promise it will last though. :D

Just DON'T mention getting your car damaged :hbomb: or caravans  and you'll probably be O.K.

Hi Tony,

As far as I was aware the official Skoda line is "thou shalt not mess with the ECU" so I'm fairly surprised that the dealer is offering this as an option to you.

I think people have gone more than 225. There are quite strong views on the different tuning companies and custom v generic remaps. Best thing to do is do a search for Jabba, REVO, AMD (apologies for any I've forgotten :( ).

SKODA priced you to remap the car!!!?

Anyway, save just under

Ey Stathap! Which car consistently won it's class in the good old RAC rally  Remember those days  Brilliant!!

I'm not extracting the U, Col, I'm a real fan

Before going off to one of the other tuners, you might want to consider that the Skoda remap will unlikely cause you to lose your warranty whereas the others almost certainly will, so it might be worth paying a bit more for peace of mind, should anything go wrong.....

Chris

Secondly, REMAPPING!!! :):) I am considering this upgrade, but know very little about it. Again skoda have priced me at

My apologies...I saw the possibility of a warranty-approved remap and got overcome with excitement :D

I shall try and contain myself in future, and maybe read the whole post :)

Cheers

Sorry, must have worded that wrong. no I'm a real fan old and new too!

Remember standing in Dalby forest I think it was, watching everyone getting stuck on the snow and ice on a steep hill, when what came plodding past...an Estelle. A huge roar of approval went up when it sauntered past everyone, no trouble at all :D A memory to savour indeed!

let's get this right.

the dealer is offering a remap as they did with me.

they will most probably turn a blind eye to any problems potentially caused by the remap.

however, if skoda uk were involved.......goodbye warranty!

there is *no* SKODA approved remap, period.

oh sorry, forgot to say welcome!

thanks for all the replies, and the warm welcome.

re the remap, the guy did mention that 'not declaring it to skoda uk' would be the way to go re the warranty! As dealers go, they were very honest and down to earth, which puts them at the top of my list!

I will have a look at the people you have mentioned (jabbasport etc) Are any of them 'up north'?

Anyone any thoughts on the alarm?
