I'd like to give a big thumbs up for James at Chipboost, he is a top guy.

Took my 100 bhp TDi up to him yesterday for a re-map to 140 bhp. Took about 45 mins to do and it now feels like a new car, the 60 mile drive home was great. The average MPG on the trip computer for the journey home was higher than it was on the way there so I'm not worried about fuel economy.

No problems running wise so far, the whole power delivary feels alot smoother now, and at £200 the price will take some beating.

So a happy customer here I'd defo recommend him.

Only problem I have now is i've developed a rather heavy right foot since saturday :D

For me, having a job is a good excuse to drive my car twice a day. :D

IMO a remap on a TDI (including the vRS) is essential, even if you're not that fussed about all out power. It makes the engine so much smoother and on mine had a marked improvement in mpg when driving normally.

The standard maps on the PD's are 'balls out' at 1800rpm with it tailing off sharply at 3000rpm and above. A decent map makes them far nicer to drive with a smoother more progressive power delivery, especially higher in the rev range, making the whole thing more flexible.

I agree. My vRS when it was standard felt asthmatic. And being a sufferer myself, i need a car with more puff!

not great value there tbh. It will be a generic flash remap file, bought on trade for around 30 quid and used over and over again. Any real dyno testing or remapping? or just a bit of copy and paste?

That is what is commonly known as "turning a profit"

You'll find that most businesses use this basic business model. It involves buying some form of tangible product for a 'trade' price, then selling it on for a greater amount, calculating: unit cost; overheads (heat, lighting, time) and also a bit extra for yourself to make; what in layman's terms describes as, 'a living'.

You'll also find incorporated in this, the model of 'Supply & Demand'. This is where the end price far exceeds the unit cost and business overheads due to a lack of plentiful supply, or in this case, a service which requires the aquisition of a specialist to perform the task on your behalf.

It is good value, as mine is chipped by Chipboost for £250 as he travelled to me. If you got a generic one from other reputable companies, then you look at nearly £400. The map is very smooth and I have done 20,000 miles hassle free and clutch slip free!

Odd what's your gripe mate?

Come and have a go in the car if you want, I'm pretty sure if I hadn't told you who did the work that you wouldn't be able to tell how it was done and who had done it. So what if he just copied and pasted settings or a file used on the same model of car for someone else, why would he do all the work from scratch again if you've done it for other people already?

£200 for an extra 40 bhp bad value for money? What are the alternatives to a remap? Trade in the the TDi in and buy a VRs, that would've been cheaper wouldn't it.

Do a search on chipboost, they have got a good rep with other people on this forum and that was why I went to them. I'm happy with the car and I have the option of being unmapped for nothing if I want, not that that will be happening :D

Well to be fair, Dave was asking whether it was more than just a simple flash of the ECU, or if it involved more testing on the RR etc. :o

I wasn't making "Excuses" for him, I was just letting everyone know the full story as it seemed a lot of people missed the whole post as they set out to lynch him :thumbdwn:

I'm just going to back up James at Chipboost and everyone else who has used him.....absolutely top bloke, very cheap, very friendly, and makes a massive difference to the car. As people have said, search chipboost on the forums and see what others say!
