I know this question has been asked many times before in this forum but I can’t find a definite answer

06 Reg Octavia Elegance. Stream radio with 6 cd changer. Radio booklet specification states unit has Ext i/p. On menu I can turn ext i/p on or off. And also vary the volume setting for ext i/p.

According to other discussions on this forum external i/p is selected by pressing the CD button 2 or 3 times.

Doing this does not change the unit to ext it just cycles between the internal and boot cd units.

I know there is no socket fitted in the centre armrest and I would have to wire a socket from the rear of the Stream unit. But will this unit switch to external or not?

if you have a stream mp3 then it should work.

however if you have the older stream then its not going to work, even though the option is in the menu the hardware is missing from the headunit.

Sorry to say this but unless you have a Stream mp3 then there is no usable external input.

[EDIT] Beaten to it.

Providing that your Stream has MP3 written upon it - but it still does not work - then you have to delve elsewhere within the setup to actually turn on this facility. I had to but I can't remember what I did. Rummage around and you will find somewhere to activate AUX.
