How to disable Passenger Seat Belt Ding?

Featured Replies

If I put something mildly heavy (e.g. shopping) on the passenger seat, that causes the seat belt alarm to 'ding' until I put the passenger seat belt across. Does anyone know how to prevent this without prejudicing operation of the air bags please?

It will most likely be changeable in the coding for the Dash Insert (Controller 17) for which you you'll need VCDS/VAG-COM or the dealer tool VAS to change.

If your 'shopping' is so heavy that it triggers the seat belt alarm; then it ought to have a seat belt around it! ;)

Alternatively I often find the rear passenger footwell is a good place (if you can't be bothered to use the boot).

My GPS does it when i put a lever arch file on there, incredibly annoying. Who in there right mind doesnt where a seatbelt anyway these days?

You would be surprised how many folk don't wear a seatbelt, or who don't wear it properly. We were tail-gated by a daft blonde (bleached hair rather than one with naturally beautiful hair!) who wasn't wearing one just yesterday. If they want to end up either dead (with brains mashed up in windscreen), or at best, severely disfigured, that's their choice, but we shouldn't be asked to share the road with them.

Sorry, but most really bad driving I see tends to be blokes in their rep-mobiles or company vans, or females with bleached and straightened hair. The former are just aggressive, and usually do overtake at the first opportunity, but the latter are too thick to see an overtake even if one does present itself. Add a child into the equation and they become the most selfish and dangerous individuals on the road.
