Not so heated seats

Featured Replies

Not used my heated front seats since last winter when they were working absolutely fine. Attempted to use my drivers heated seat the other day only to find that it is not getting hot at all! The passenger side is working fine its only the drivers which is playing up. Has anyone else encountered any problems with the Fabia front seat heaters? Mine is a 2001 plate 1.9 TDi Elegance model for info.

I was going to suggest the fuse, but as the passenger side is woring fine that will not be the case. Have you cleaned under the seat at all, as you may have simply unplugged it by mistake.

Fuse is fine due to passenger one working ok. I have checked all seat multi plugs and they are ok too. Unfortunately the Haynes manual I have for the car does not have anything at all to do with the seat heaters which is a bit of a nuisance! So I am not sure what components are in the system and where they are located? There must be a relay in there somewhere and possibly a variable resistor that I need to find and check. Does anyone know where all the components for the drivers seat heater system are or alternatively where I can get a copy of the wiring diagram?

Have you tried the Switch?

it will be the seat itself, there was a post on here a while ago that showed a blown heater element in the seat.

Or, if you have disconnected the seatbelt bong it could be to many wires are disconnected.

I am wondering if it is the 5 position thumbwheel switch which is faulty. My drivers window switch is also playing up by not always going down on the one touch function. Think I may have to go and order some new switch gear for the old girl!

The heaters worked last winter and I have not touched them until the other day so it seems strange that the heater pad would just blow from non use?

Pop the switch out and swap it over, see if it starts working then.

Tried that but the multi plugs are different for the two seat switches so I could not even connect it up to try.

Get your multimeter out and "look" back up into the seat wiring - hum this will not be handy if you don't have a schematic - but if there is a plug and socket arrangement under the seat, for these heater pads, then compare both sides there should be two pads for each seat - base and back.

Found on here a thread about someone finding a lump inside the heated seat which was the thermistor. I have poked around with the thermistor through the seat fabric in my drivers seat which is at the back of the seat squab and hey presto my **** was on fire with heat. During the summer I cleaned my seats which may have caused a dry joint in the wiring somewhere. At least it is working again now and has not cost me anything to repair, thankyou to everyone on this thread for your help and comments!

I think that I should take a look for that thread just in case!! (for the future)

Which type of thermistor did you use? Do you remember?

Thanks!

Not sure if they will remember 7 years ago.
