VRS brakes..

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Quick question, does anyone know if Octavia VRS and Fabia VRS brakes are interchangeable? Are the hubs / carriers the same? The fitment onto the struts the same?

Basically, I've got a 1.2 polo, and need to do the clutch soon, as well as engine / box mounts, also fitting coilovers, and new front bumper, and might as well fit bigger brakes whilst im at it, so the biggest possible will be good! Got 16's on it so no clearance issues, ideally I wanna fit the 312mm brakes.. Reason being, I have BIG engine plans for the future, and might as well get the brakes upgraded now!

You help is much appreciated!

Also if anyone has any tips on doing the conversion, they'll be more than welcome!!!

Ta!

Sweet! First link just brings me to the search page?

Done some more research now, and seems (from what I understand) that 288mm VRS brakes cannot be upgraded to the 312, you must get the calipers as well as the pads + discs, and recommended hoses..

Next question is, can you fit TT 312mm calipers + discs n pads straight onto Fabia / Octy vRS hubs?

Octy vRS already has 312mm same as the TT, Fabia vRS requires Calipers & Carriers.

Your 1.2 Polo has FSIII brakes so you have to replace the whole bearing carrier and wheel bearing assembly to fit larger brakes.

The whole hub unit would be needed from a Fabia vRS or 2.0 to upgrade to the 288mm spec brakes. Then you would need the carriers and calipers etc from the Octavia vRS to go up to 312mm.

The Octavia hubs and bearings wont fit your Polo, different chassis type.

Ahaaaa brilliant! Thanks very much!

Right, I'm off to checkout some vRS fabia's being broken on ebay etc hehe..

Managed to find 2 fabia calipers, £40 each, but theyre not the correct ones for the 312's so I'll forget that one...

You guys are ace! Thanks very much :)

Hmm, was thinking last night about rear discs as well, purely for cosmetic purposes :)

Anyone done this? Currently have rear drums :(

Ta! xx

Did it on a Mk1 Golf, Required a full disk/pad setup obviously and also the rear stub axles from the donor car, I imagine It'll be similar.

Maybe worth getting a car that is more 'up to the job' before your big engine plans, will make it easier and cheaper in the long run?

Hmm I'm too attached to my car now to get rid!

Been considering getting a fabia vRS, but just love my polo too much!

Does anyone know if the Fabia 100bhp and vRS rear discs are the same? If so, I guess I can nick the rear discs off any of the same chassis?

Thanks for all your help and support guys :D
