misted windscreen

Featured Replies

i was realy disapointed how long it took for my windscreen took to demist this morning.:thumbdwn:

after 10mins it was still only half clear.

i don't like to wipe the inside of the screen, as it leads to dirty marks and you can never get it as clear as letting the heater do it.

how long dose other take to clear?

Did you just sit there with the engine at idle?

Try turning on the aircon if you have it.

Otherwise direct all airflow to windscreen and use high fan speed + high temperature. Most diesels take a long time to get to temperature ( as the engines are efficient, unlike petrol)

Make sure its set to throughflow and not recirculate, this will help or as mentioned above turn on the aircon,

About 5-10 seconds on a/c, fan speed 1, vents to window.

If it's clean and grease free it should clear quickly - no rubbing required.

Give it a decent clean and try it then. Tip: J-Cloth and Flash to wash, then quick buff with a microfibre. No hassle, no smears, no lint.

Takes 3-6 months before it's foggy enough to warrant cleaning again.

Don't use recirculate, will clear quicker. Also open the front passenger windows 1cm, this will aid the exhaust of air from the cabin.

Clean the windows thoroughly with Autogym Glass polish; this will clean the glass and reduce the amount it mists up.

Finally, if you had left your car parked on Sunday with all the rain, with the then cold temperatures overnight this will have increased to likelyhood of your car being misted up in the morning - mine was too.
