hill hold - again

Featured Replies

does anyone know if you can turn the hill hold on and off ? i cant seem to find a definite answer.

I was told that the hill hold is switchable, as it is in the Passat and Passat CC. You get a little button with 'HOLD' written on it right next to the park assist button by the gearstick. Each time you start the car it is off. You press the button, and a little light illuminates in the button to show that it's now switched on.

I've no reason to doubt my source, but I'll check it again tomorrow.

i was looking at the pics of the gear lever surround in the skoda-auto brochure.i expected it to have everything that you can buy on it but no button for hill hold - just park sensors, park assist, ESP and tyre pressure monitor (see page 21 of skoda-auto brochure)

If is the same hild hold as on the Octavia Scout then there is no on/off button, and it isn't as useful as it could be as it is a bit unpredictable as to when it kicks in. But then again it could be entirely different on the Superb!

It seems as though there are lots of questions raised, not just for Hill Hold, that could be answered by having access to an electronic copy of the handbook. I did sent Skoda CZ an email asking for this, but their response was to apply to your dealer, presumably to request a printed copy at whatever cost.

Most electro/mechanical goods these days have a manual you can download to really find out about what you want to buy does what you want it to do - in fact I rarely buy a product without first having downloaded the the manual to read first.

Cars are an obvious exception, although I don't see why..........

Anyone aware of electronic copy of Drivers Handbook ? .............. no, I thought not. Never mind - have to spend an hour or so at dealer then reading it.

checked my manual

Hill Hold or Uphill Start Off Assist is not a button but an automatic control that kicks in when you are on a hill of 5 degrees or more and will hold the car for 2 secs after the brake is released. It will then start to roll back.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the clarification.

It looks like the guy at the dealer demo day, and retailer support need to go back to school.

Oh well. It's still useful, just not as versatile as I was expecting.

In which case it is exactly the same as on the Scout. Unfortunately even the Columbus unit doesn't give you the angle of tilt of the car, so you have to assume that most of the time it will not kick in, except if on a "steep" incline....

Frustrating as they could have made it so much better with very little effort! Even a message on Maxidot would help...
