Octy hard to start after mainly stalling?

Featured Replies

Recently the car has been really hard to start after stalling the engine it will just turn over like there is no spark or petrol, the spark plugs have been changed and its still the same, Also had it on the computer and there are no codes present  but clearly something is not right.

The engine seems really easy to stall but idles fine both on tick over and de clutching.

Sometimes you dont have to stall it just switch the engine off to pop into a shop and when you come out it wont start.

Has anyone had this to their Octavia mine is a 1998 1.6 8 valve mk1 and what can i check myself?

Cheers

First port of call would be a coolant temp sensor, i'd bet it's over fuelling.

Forgot to add that when it dosent start, the only way to start it is to put your foot on the accelerator pedal than it starts.

If it was the coolant sensor would this show up when you plug the car into the diagnostic machine.

The car has 69,000 miles on the clock and has no record of this sensor being replaced in the service history.

Thanks everyone  The wife panics when it happens to her and she is on her own.
