Renault Master Van Speed Restricted

Featured Replies

I have a friend who has one of these as a works van but the speed is restricted to 65mph.

Does anyone know if this can be removed?

I'm not sure if it's a standard thing with this van or if it's been added?

It's a Master 120bhp 2008 van.

If it's under 3.5Tonne limit then I don't see why it has to be limited.

I thought there was a new law just enacted that states all new vans (the renault master type size, and above) had to be limited......

I could be wrong, but seem to remember reading this, and delivery companies going mad, and saying they will have to have two little for connects instead of a big van (they seem to forget 70mph is the max speed limit)

I think if its a company or leased van then its prob got some tracking stuff installed too so it might be unwise taking the restrictor off or your friend could lose his job and prob get charged for damage/vandalism

Some marques limit them until after 2k or first service, then the limit gets lifted.

Yes I think this is the problem he will have!

He is always on the motorway and can't get over 60mph so overtaking anything is a nightmare.

I have found someone who can map it and remove the limiter though

I had company vans and stuck to 65 a Sprinter (MWB which had a limiter or maxxed at 78mph) and a Combo 1.7DTI

I never had a problem overtaking stuff on the motorway.

I'd be careful about remapping and removing a limiter on a company vehicle though

A map of any kind, without telling said employer and their insurance company will invalidate their entire insurance policy for ALL vehicles.

It has been added by the company he works for as a optional extra.

The van is also tracked more for the purpose to make sure he is not missing calls if on call out(Medical industry)

The tracker will send back reports if driven over 90mph.

TBH I don't think he is interested in a map but just wants the limiter removed.

The details have been passed on to him now so it's in his hands as to what he wants to do :)

Medical?

Call outs? missing calls?

Van?

Renault Master?

Is he an Ambulance driver?

On transits we used to hire it was as simple as a fuse...but then most of the keys opened each others vans so maybe it wasn't the fuse at all but the shift in weight distribution.

I saw a guy in a van who apologised, pulled a fuse and it took out the speedo lighting and the limiter too.

Was on a recovery truck too

Transits have to be programmed with the IDS equipment now to operate the limiter
