problems after remap...

Featured Replies

ok so car has been recently remapped. after a cuple of days bad weather and getting new tyres fitted i took it out a proper spin in the dry.

coming onto the motorway i put the foot down in third, gradually through the gears to 6th but no excessive revving in 5th and 6th, only through 3rd and 4th to get up to speed from joining on from the slip road.

after about a mile steady in 6th gear at about 2.5thousand revs i hear a beeping. the speedo goes straight to zero, the abs, eng management , handbreak etc lights come on. i start to slow down and come off at the next slip road, when i stopped at the lights i turned the engine off then on.

all lights go off. cars drives fine for about 200yds and the same thing happens. this time i turn the engine off and on and this time the eng management light stays on. on continuing to drive( to get home) i am getting 30mpg when driving like a granny( at this point i start to panic)

i also realised i have used a quarter of a tank over the last 2days since its been done and only done 30-40miles!!

so i have Angel tuning coming back out today to have a look at it after phoning Paul last night. his initial thought was emissions.

anyone had similar issues before or could hazard a guess as to what it could be?

Thanks for any help

Ross

Personaly i wouldn't have posted this until after the company in question had checked the car over and advised on the problem as its unfair on the company who are obviously keen to help you out.

Hope it gets sorted mate, but i'm glad i don't work for Angel tuning or i'd be unhappy.

well if they came out this morning like they said they would, not had me chasing them up, still not heard nothing after been told ' we will keep you updated on whats going on and when we will be out today ' then quite possibly i wouldnt have. besides the point, in no way was i bad mouthing angel tuning whats so ever. i am only looking for advice on what the issues could be if you read the post. i will be happy to praise angel tuning on here when i am happy with the outcome of the job as i was really happy with the job done at the time and Paul was very helpful with everything. only time will tell if there aftersales meet the standards of the initial job.

Thanks

Thanks mate. in no way did i say angel tuning did anything wrong. i just asked for OPINIONS incase this has happened to anyone before and it can be sorted asap.

Be careful posting about remaps - they void your warranty and dealers will use a remap as an excuse not to carry out work for free. My dealer said that their policy is that if even a paying customer brings a remapped car in they will refuse repair. Too much hassle.

second that,

my local dealer asked me if i had seen this site and said he checks on here and has a good read,

i said i had never heard of it, i must look it up

also worth noting that after a remap faults are common as other components can be stressed more than they ever were before, especially AFM's, which can cause similar symptoms to yours, but not usually causing dash lights to come on exept for the EM light.

My dealer also stated that they read here often.

They are watching....:nervous:

Any updates?

Hi Folks,

Paul here from Angel Tuning in Scotland. I just want to clear this one up please.

Having been out to check over Pateyvdub1's vRS after we remapped it (it's an hour each way from our workshop!) and found no faults attributable to our remap it was later found that on the day we remapped the vehicle, the customer had a new front tyre fitted. The new tyre fitted was the incorrect size (55 aspect ratio) and completely screwed with the ABS. A tyre of the correct size was then fitted a couple of days later (after the franchised dealer found the problem) and the vehicle faults were completely eradicated. I'd like to point out that we were very quick to respond to the customers call and were in fact out to the vehicle on 3 separate occasions.

Once to remap, once to check over and return to standard and once to re-remap! We didn't charge for any extra time which amounted to over 6 hours plus fuel etc.

If anyone has a problem after a remap then please don't rant about it on a public forum. Get in touch with whoever did the work in the first place; be it a remap, brakes, exhaust etc. We are, as always, only too happy to deal with any probs.

Thank you,

Paul.

I've delt with Angel Tuning in Troon and found both Paul and Mick to know there stuff! My car has been mapped by Angel and i have had no problems with them, in fact i was down today asking about my CEL light for the EGR valve to be "mapped" out.

Just my 2p's worth ;)

Agree 100%. Maybe you should have charged the OP for the extra work done. If you have not then a big thumbs up from me.

just on a positive side, my fiat was mapped by angel tuning at 4,000 miles, and is up to 66,000 miles now, no problems, clutch / turbo/ gearbox ect all as new ;)

hope this helps :)

Angel certainly seem to have a good reputation and this seems to show their good service.

Had previous cars mapped from other places and TBH i found Angel to be faultless in service and price

I have had two Tdi engines remapped by Paul from Angel Tuning.

I found him to be totally professional (as evidenced from the after sales help given to the O.P. in this case ) and extremely knowledgeable. It must be about three years now since he remapped my Golf and two years plus since SWMBO's Fabia was remapped and neither car has had the slightest problem. The maps we have are very progressive and give a fantastically smooth increased power delivery. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Paul & Angel Tuning (and I have) to anyone looking to get their car remapped they are a thoroughly professional tuning company offering an excellent service.

Keep up the good work guys ! :)

^totally agree
