What height to adjust Weitec or KW's to

Featured Replies

As suggests I have purchased some Weitecs Coilovers for my VRS and i am fitting them tomorrow.

How high from the bottom thread position have you folks set yours to. Gives me a rough guide before I put mine back on the road.

Also I have purchased new strut bearings and rubber top mounts.

Did you folks re fit the original inner strut nut and spacer onto your coilovers with the bearing and rubber mount or did you leave out the spacer. I have seen something posted that the spacer causes the bearing to be crushed when fully torqued up???

cheers

all i used mate was the mount and bearing. the old mount and bearing didnt come away from the old strut so i didnt know it was there.

mine is fine so far.

PM sent

Mine has the old top mount and bearing as i didnt get them in my kit the fronts are adjusted 1.5 inch from the botom thread hope this helps a little bit but bear in mind that mine is a 1.9 TDI not a VRS and my coil overs are race tec ones. it looked like this on the day i put them in it has since dropped another inch :orb_bounc. Will try to get a more recent pic as it has been done for 2 months now

Hey - Claytargetgod!

Any chance of a Weitec write-up?

Did they go on ok?

How's the new ride?

Wind. Them. All. The. Way. Down.

:)

they are easy to put on if you are good with your hands. ill post some destructions some time this weekend. i dont have pic though as i was proper filthy.

the ride is bit more choppy lol but you get used to it. the chassis moves more now and you really feel the road surfice more now. the handling is twice as good. one thing to note is lower the car rear more than me as at night it is hard to see

i wanted to make the car look more poised as the rear was a good hight just the gap between the tyre and the arch on the front was too much. i am gonna lower the back a little more just to lift the head light line.

here is a pic i took today

cheers folks. Rears finnished today and Fronts to do tomorrow. Looking at your pics Claytarget My rears are set lower (set them half way) and with my 18" RS4 wheels there is no visible gap between tyre and arch. Looks great but don't think will keep it that way as will be waking up every sleeping policeman i go over.

a word of advice

Be for you go lowering it too much I suggest that you let the height settle as over a week or two you will notice that the car will drop another 1-2 inches as the springs compress as i found this with mine but then again you dont have to if ya dont want to

:eek:1-2 inch

thats a lot, ive had mine on for 2 month nearly now nmine hasnt moved. must be coz you got diff coilies on urs mate. if you lower the car evenly then the rear wheels do go inside the arch a bit mate. just i wanted to lower the front as the front has a lot of space between the tyre and arce were the rear was not too bad.

the weitec coils are a good quality kit, i love mine and so far they are well worth the 475 GREAT british pounds.

the green springs go well with the car even though you cant see them

1-2 inches! christ I have never seen that ammount of drop after fitting suspension kits. And I have done a few.

The weitecs are a superb quality kit. The fitting went like clock work. All the brackets are in the right place to fit the sensor cables, anti roll bar links etc. And the green springs match the calipers and my green repainted whiteline ARB bar. Sad I know. running out of things to do to the car now. Any suggestions.

These weitec coilovers are set at the lowest setting.
