Urban Landscapes

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago I went out a couple of times to try taking urban shots, mainly because it's not something I've ever been into. In my mind a landscape should contain trees, grass, rivers, waterfalls or anything green and pretty. I thought I should stop being so narrow minded and give it ago. Here's a few of the results. The Blackpool ones are a bit crap, I was just wandering down the prom with tourists getting in my way! Also, the light is really funny, very dark on the prom, with loads of random bright lights, so hard to capture correctly.

Enjoyed the Pictures Loz:thumbup:, where was the curly wurly road (car park?) taken. I think I recognise Castlefield in one or two of your shots. I assume you weren’t alone for the shoot!!

 Great shots.

Nice work :) Love all of them, but you have managed to make Blackpool look reasonable :)

You really annoy me Loz, just taking random snaps you get better pictures than me when I really try! :( :weeping:

# 7 in the Manchester suite really fascinating - has a scifi touch with that strange Hilton building almost hovering in the background.

Thanks everyone :)

Alan, don't get upset - they weren't just random snaps, I went out specifically to take photos! I just don't normally do urban ones, I'm better at pretty landscapes lol.

Camera is a Nikon D80. Some have been HDR'd, some haven't, but tbh, I only use it subtly so you can't always tell much difference, it just helps bring out the darker points in the photos :) Oh, and I couldn't be bothered taking 3+ exposures for each one hehe.

Yeah I love urbex. Me and a couple of mates have been meaning to go again. I don't like the idea of dragging my cam and tripod with me though lol. Squeezing through fences etc haha!

Really like those. nice work:thumbup:

I Drove over to the Isle of Dogs Friday night. I was cursing I didn't have my camera with me. The Dome, Canary wharf and lots of other buildings all lit up near the River Thames. There were some great pictures to be had:mad: I'll have to take a drive there again one night. Probably get the camera stolen:rofl:

Some great shots in there Loz, particularly the Manchester ones. Was wandering through Castlefield myself this weekend doing some similar stuff...

Definite echoes of Half Life 2 somewhere in that scene.

Nice pictures all the way through. Wish I had the time/patience for a few more photographic safaris.

Nice photos. There's a few spots in Manchester I'd like to take photos at but I'm no photographer

The ramp is from the Arndale multi-storey car park where you''re facing the new Shudehill car park.
