Squeaky heater fan motor

Featured Replies

The fan on my heater sometimes has a bit of a squeak which comes and goes, not too often thankfully and only for a minute or so. However the other night it was pretty cold (2'C) and the thing had a high pitched shreak for the whole trip :finger:

Now it hasn't done it since but I can see me having to drive with ear plugs in when the temperature drops again :P Is there anything that I can do that might help? Squirt something into the motor (assuming you can even get access to the thing), give it a whack etc. ?

You can gain access to the blower motor by removing the glovebox.

Remove the cover from under the motor.

Disconnect the wiring.

Undo the panel that holds the motor place (the motor speed resistor is attached to the inside of the panel so be careful)

Remove the motor.

Nice one, infact if its that simple I might start trying to source a scrap yard one and fiddle with this as a spare.

My fan motor has gone all squeaky when I first turn it on aswell. Only lasts for a couple of minutes from whenever I turn it on, but it's getting worse.

Guessing it's brushes or something motor-like!

Anyone know if I can repair the motor with bits from Skoda or GSF maybe? Or will they only supply me with a complete new motor? If so, how much is a new motor?

I've had it out before, so I know it's easy to get to, just need to fix/replace it.

As Lordrobs knows, the noise can be annoying!

Cheers guys.
