Fabia front discs

Featured Replies

Bought Fabia 1.9TDI new Feb. 2007 (my fifth new Fabia). When new had to have front discs changed as they were very badly rusted and marked. I took the car back to the dealer yesterday because the front discs were only cleaning up over less than 75% of the pad width. Skoda refused to do anything about it as they said I had only done 5000 miles. I pointed out that the back discs were ok and they said the inboard discs were ok on the front and anyway the guarantee on the discs that they had to change from new was only six months. There is also pedal creep. When I keep my foot on the brake pedal it gradually goes almost to the floor. Any ideas please. Sorry this is a long thread. Thanks

Welcome,

Seems it has just been stood around and hasnt moved, hence the rust. If the pads are new then they wont have fully bedded in. New pads are angled, so the first part has a smaller surface area than pads that are half worn. Just give them time.

As for the spongy pedal. Try bleeding them up, you may have air in the system.

Hiya.

If you can demonstrate the sinking brake pedal, take it back to the dealer, and get that fixed.

Once that's fixed, give the brakes an Italian tuneup!!

Welcome :)
