Adding a switch to Fabia dash

Featured Replies

I want to add a new switch to the dash panel on my Fabia:

Question is: what's behind it?

Can someone please post an exploded view of the dash so I can see how awkward it will be route wires into the engine compartment from the switch?

How much disassembly (e.g. glove box removal) am I going to have to do?

TIA,

Bryand

OUCH! You smart-Alec! ;)

I guess that bryand was after a dash 'explosion' of a more 'constructed' rathed than 'destructed' car.

I'll look for you bryand. I think I may have seen one somewhere on here.

Why not ask adaadams, he might know?

He'll definitely know as he spent last Sunday removing my dash  Not sure how much *needs* to come out though - depends where you want to put a wire through into the engine bay :)

Thats a bit extreme, all you needed to do was to remove the blanking plate.

I apologise for everyone going so radically off-topic, everyone seems to have forgotten your original question. Does anyone have an answer for our new member?

Go on then Ross, tell me more :) After seeing Ade do it, I'd be impressed if there is an easier way - lol ;)

Well, to answer my own question, you do have to drop the glovebox down, then bring the wires out of the side of the console. I used a bent wire coathanger to fish for the wires and pull them through:

Sorry no one could help you. Thanks nevertheless for whoever looks here in the future.

does the button just 'pop' off then?

Yes they do. When I investigated the additional dinks holder a while back I found that the aircon panel just pops off and the buttons pull out.

Very curious to know :nosy:

What button is going there and to do what ? :rubchin:

I now have two ASR switches, one for Anti Skid Regulation and the new one for an Antagonising Sound Resonator (aka Klaxon).

The ASR switch is apparantly the only momentary action switch in the set - the others are push-on/push-off (latching).
