Re-programming another key

Featured Replies

Can you re-programme a key if you have the original or it is a dealer only thing?

The second key I have for the car will open the doors and let the engine run for a very short time.

Cars a 2001 Octavia vRS.

You can it yourself for the door locking but the fact that the engine cuts out suggests the immo code ineeds reprogramming, you can do this if you have your SKC (secret key code iirc) and vag com. Other than that it's a dealer job I'm afraid.

what if you have VAG COM, but not the SKC ?

Dealer only as the programming is done through a data link to Skoda and the dealer doesn't see the SKC. You may be able to find a locksmith that has the capability to either read the SKC from the car or clone your code from a working key to the new key.
