PD150 acceleration problem... boost problem?

Featured Replies

hi guys,

yes its not a skoda, but my seat fr+ has developed a problem. it started this week..

basically when the car is cold it wont boost properly for about 1 minute. at first i thought it was just a seat safety start up as the engine is cold, but i dont think it is! (during summer it was fine, its just this week has been really cold)

it feels like a n/a 1.9 diesel, usually i can hear the whistle around 1500 revs but theres nothing... the revs rise slowly as does the speed, but im talking very slowly...

after about 1 minute its totally fine, however sometimes it will happen when i pull away but then suddenly go back to normal. it happens when its cold, but sometimes when warm. i thought it could be a lose pipe but couldnt find any... i took this pic of the intercooler pipe, should it be that oily?

thats the towing eye in the pic... with the pipe in the back ground

could it be an egr problem? the car has done 44k and is still under warranty however i need a car for work and i know seat will have to keep it a few days to see the problem first hand.

any help would be great!

oh and the car is standard bar a piper downpipe

thanks!

That much oil leakage is normal, thats all i can input bud...

Maybe EGR as you say or also worth checking the MAF sensor out, Seat should be able to plug it into a machine and check the fault codes.. you might even blag a courtesy car as your in warranty ;)

Check for fault codes, where id be looking is, when you open the bonnet theres a charge pressure sensor in the plastic boost pipe on your left, if you follow the wires going from this sensor down along, they go off under the car, now theres a problem where they tend to fray and rub against the main starter live cable, peel back the insulation and you might see a few broken wires:) worth checking this out and get a mechanic to check it for you
