Can i re-code the key myself, i know that some manufactures have a scheme wit a key-like Citroen Xsara: i just opened the door with the key and hold the key in that position for 10 sec. Is there a scheme like that on Superb? Or do i have to go to a dealer...Thanks!

I'd go with dealer, unless you've got access to VAG-COM.

i have access to VAG-COM but how to do that? How do i recode the key???tnx:confused:

Umm... that I don't know, but I'm sure one of the resident tecchies has talked about recoding keys before.

I know it's a bit of a mission though, so perhaps my initial post should have read "I'd stick with a dealer unless you're really really good with VAG-COM" :)

To recode a key first you need the SKC code, you may have this - it will be on a plastic tag attached to your spare keys, it has a scratch off panel that contained the 4 digit PIN code.

You can then recode the immobilizer.

If you don't have the SKC code then it's a trip to the dealer for them to retrieve it (this will not be cheap, i have read they can charge over £100 to retrieve your SKC.

However, if the car starts with the key, i can't see that re coding the key will make a difference. If anything it is probably the receiver part of the immobilizer that is at fault.

I assume you don't have a huge bunch of keys attached to the ignition key? (that could be blocking the immobilizer)
