Have had an intermittent problem with my Octavia VRS (52 plate). Totally dead when it gets cold, no sound, no start, no nothing - will start eventually but only when iginition is repeatedly turned. Any ideas as to what the problem might be? Garage has looked and failed to find problem. :(

It may be an intermittant starter solenoid. I assume that the dash lights come on as usual.

If you don't even get that, then I would suspect a relay.

Another vote for the solenoid, and get it sorted because the problem will only get a lot worse.

As a temporary measure, you maybe able to get it to start more readily by tapping on the side of the starter solenoid with a screwdriver handle when it will not start (assuming you can see the starter).

I have the same issue. No starter click - not a noise.

Dash lights are all on as usual, and as the OP said, it usually goes with the persuasion of a few choice words!
