hey up gents, need help on tuning my mkII octavia vRS---help!!!!

Featured Replies

evening gents, new to the site, thought it would be a great idea to sign up.

ive owned my 2.0tfsi vrs for a year since new and absolutely love it, however i found it frustratingly lacking in the midrange when chasing the slightly more powerful meganes and focus STs.

So after reading your articles on chipping i have just ordered a bluefin remap module for it, and hopefully it will make a very good car an awesome car. looking forward to returning from iraq in a month and giving it a good belting down the autobahn.

however my query is that will the brakes be up for the extra 40 bhp, maybe perfomance disc and pad change with braided brake pipes, or revo can do a brembo 4 pot brake kit for 1100 queen quids incl fiting, im just not sure if that might play havoc with the ABS.

also has anyone trialled suspension, and exhaust upgardes who fancys passing on the knowledge.

your help would be great, cheers

welcome along, brakes will be up for it, but many members on here swear by "REVO" remaps. have a look about, ask questions and then go from there.

There is a wealth of information on here relating to tuning TFSI's with a number of members having done some of the things you mention. A good place to start would be this thread which has links to others detailing various options open to you.

As for the Bluefin you will be lucky to see an increase in power of 30bhp let alone 40bhp but even so the brakes on the MkII are more than capable of handling it (I ran mine on standard brakes up to StageII+ spec with 280bhp!) although they can get a bit 'warm' and fade a bit with heavy track use.

Don't worry too much about the bhp claims from the various tuning companies as few of them will quote you realistic figures but from experience REVO have consitently proved to be amongst the strongest performers especially if you are intending on further modifications in future whereas the Bluefin is somewhat limited in it's capabilities.

Brakes are mostly rated as being up to the job, even by those with more power; no need to spend your hard earned Queen's Shillings on Brembos.

Personally though I would recommend uprated front pads. I use Ferodo DS2500s but EBC Red Stuff are used by others (they're a bit cheaper). Do a search for more info.

Suspension; most frequently applied are eibach lowered springs with Koni FSD shocks, followed perhaps by uprated anti-roll bars (again plenty of info if you 'search').

Good luck, and enjoy the Autobahns.
