Can anyone give me a quick summary of dash warning lights?

Featured Replies

Hello,

After nearly getting my figers burnt buying an A5 octavia VRS with dodgy electrics, can anyone give me (or point me in the direction of!) a list of the warning lights which should come on and then go off after turning the ignition on?

My best guess:

Engine

Oil Pressure

Brakes (low pads)

ABS

Hand brake

Air Bag

Seat belt (if seat belt undone)

Am i missing anything?

Cheers

They can't really be fidled with as they are surface mount LED's and not bulbs. The brake pad warning can be disabled as can the seatbelt but that's not a big issue.

If its a diesel then you get glow plug light also.

You do indeed, but if its like mine its only ever on for a fraction of a second and goes off long before the other lights do.

Stays on a bit longer in the depths of winter tho'!

And if Diesel the DPF warning lamp comes on then off again

what year is it ? As the cruise control "on" lamp (not on ignition on tho) works on later models IIRC
