First few 'modifications'

Featured Replies

Hi,

Picked up my first VRS last week, 2005 with 20,000 on the clock, managed to get it for just shy of 6K. So far very pleased with the car and thought i'd pop up a couple of pics of the first 'modifications' I have carried out. The plan is to keep it simple and smooth, remove rub strips, colour code handles and grill etc... started this evening with dewipering the rear and removing the badges. Think it gives the rear a much cleaner look although I know i'll get stick for removing a useful component.... but I like it. Plans for the future are a healthy drop and maybe a set of Lm reps or alike.

Looks clean mate, not sure about the "de wiper-ing" but each to there own :)

Who will be first with "de-windowing"?

Now that would be smoooth.

OTT but then again..........."introducing the vRS VAN" lol :)

Looks very clean, the dewiper mod looks good through.

Davy

Nice and clean looking.

Im all for the smooth look.

Ive dewipered me and it gives it so much more of a better look.

Keeping the modifications simple is effective and looks nice.

I dewipered my Corsa and although it looked ace it was a bit impracticial in the winter so decided to keep my wiper on the Fabia.

Looks good though.

Looks like you got a good buy there. Can we have a few more varied pics though, rather than 3 of the rear! :D

I can understand the de-wiper mod sometimes, but the rear of the Fab gets so covered, it would do my head in...

Removed the rub strips last week, was a bit of a bugger removing the glue residue left over after my best attempts to heat them up to reduce this problem. Took me just under an hour and to me looks a lot better, and an excuse to give her a good clean!

Also fitted my BMC after ordering some coupling pipes to replace the stock part. The cold air feed is temporary as i need to get hold of a decent flexy rubber pipe instead of the tacky metal one which came withit as it just creases and dents when you try to shape it! Anyone know of a good replacement?

NICE house! Car looks good, too :D

I've got the side-strips removed on mine as well, and it does look much better. But the downside is the extreme paranoia that now occurs in any public car-parks!!!

How does the BMC sound?

Could you put the mystery to bed and tell us what size/diameter silicone pipe you needed to buy to replace the standard intake pipe?

3" pipe is what is need Joel

To be honest the sound isn't terribly different to standard, I had it with out the cold air feed for a day or two and it was noticeably louder, but with the feed on its pretty muted. Gives a little roar up to about 2500 and when engine braking it gives out a nice 'gurgle', as for performance I don't know if its because I want it to be but seems a little smoother upon acceleration. But that could just be down to having a new toy!

oh if only the Fabia praktik was available in RHD......

HAHA

100% Agree with your statement it gets covered !

Very nice car Norman :):D Welcome to a forum that looks after you mate :D

A few questions...

1) How do you get the rubber strips off the side ?

2) Whats a BMC ? LOL

how much did you buy it for ....... THATS A BARGIN !

so pleased i got rid of mine if thats what an 05 plate is worth now

One thing..

It's got a non standard exhaust...

I'm pretty sure they all come in a manky grey/black colour. :D

Someone seems to have given you a shiny silver item

Lovely car though...good purchase. :)

very nice and clean especially at this time of year lol

That's an absolute steal, I paid £5800 for an 04 on 50k 2 months ago!... and that seemed an OK price at the time! oh well, least I plan to keep it a while!

I put a polo areo wiper on mine as I would really miss my wiper if it was removed.

Rob :)

But the downside is the extreme paranoia that now occurs in any public car-parks!!!

I always try to park over two spaces.

Who cares if it annoys other people.

Still no carpark dents here yet, must be doing something right.

Or park as far away from other cars and walk the rest.

;)

yea park miles away and just tell the bird to walk from her house if she'd rather  Mines used to it now, just laughs about it. lol. Car park dents are a pet hate tho! Nice looking fabia, wish id bought a red one!

Thanks for all the comments guys.

As far as de-wipering goes I tend to wash my car at least once a week and my weekly mileage is pretty low so the build up of grime isn't too excessive, but I can totally understand where your'e coming from.

Littlebull:

1. The strips are a doddle to remove, heat them up with a hot air gun or hair dryer and prise them off with a clubcard or similar. You will find that no matter how carefully you peel them off you will be left with a few patches of gluey residue which can be removed with a bit of elbow grease and WD40 or brake cleaner (obviously sparingly).

2. A BMC CDA (carbon dynmic airbox) is basically an induction kit with a pricey tag on it!

And thank you Johnny50 I take pride in my shiney rear!

or use some tar and glue remover
