PD or CR TDi?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me when the TDi became common rail in the Octy?

Also has the DSG box ever been available in the vRS with the PD engine?

Not so sure that I'm being offered the car that I believed I was ordering!!

Only the vRS has the CR engine. Don't know when it was introduced.

The DSG has only been available in the vRS since this summer with the CR engine - I tested the first one that a dealer had in August.

In other post in this forum there is page from some newspapers saying TDi 140HP PD will be replaced by CR in spring 2009

lucky you! unlucky dealer!

... just to be specific; the DSG G'box was NOT available on the PD170 vRS; only with the new CR engine.

Doesn't bother me though - I prefer Manual. :D

The DSG commonrail vRS was only introduced June.

This takes us slightly off topic but in the same vein on the vRS, when did the previously extra jumbo box, dual climate, 18's, cruise and rear electric windows, as all described in bold in the brochure, become standard?

As I understood the car I was being sold had this, now it would appear not to be the case. Fizzing mad!!

The equipment upgrade package of; Dual Climate/Jumbo/rear elec windows plus 18" wheels was being offered from 1st April 2007 as a 'free upgrade' and this deal was continued on a quarterly basis through until, IIRC, 1st July 2008 when it became 'Standard'. I remember it vividly having bought my vRS in February 2007 (delivered in April) and paid for this equipment!

Cruise control was always an option (not sure if it is now standard).

If you are buying 'NEW' what spec is the car you have been offered and by whom?

Space saving spare wheel

6 CD autochanger

Additional 4 loudspeakers

and rubbing strips

Chrome plated inner door handles

So, I order the car, with all the above noted and agreed on the contract and they phone with four days to go and say that they have "forgot" to fit the rear electric windows!!

Come off it, you can't forget, it apparently has the rest but I'm well not chuffed.

Bought through an agent in turn from a Skoda dealer somewhere in UK.

No it sounds pathetic but rear electric windows are a bonus with two young children and I'm concerned the car is old stock with extras rather than a current model. A deals a deal after all.

Can they retro fit the leccy windows in the back as THEY forgot?

**** up somewhere along the line, but sounds mightily weird.

Hmm; Unusual, smells fishy.

I think you have three choices;

1. reject the car and ask for one as ordered, or

2. get them to retro-fit rear elec windows, or

3. do a deal for compensation (extra discount or accessories), but remember the lack of rear elec windows may affect re-sale price.

Not sure who's fault it is the agents or the dealer. I reckon seeing as the agent is your point of contact up until handover you probably want to go and moan at them and either reject the car or get some kind of compensation back.

Also please bear in mind that having all that spec and then not having electric rear windows is going to kill it's trade value in a couple of years time. I'm not sure how they managed to not order the electric rear windows, sounds like it could be an old stock car to me. I'm sure for the last few months you simply can't order a vRS without the added kit.

You don't mention if it's petrol or diesel. If diesel does it have the engine you're expecting (presumably CR)?

... just had a further thought; you are I presume getting a vRS TDI with DSG; yes?

If it is minus rear elec windows, I am surprised that it even got out of the factory (through quality control) like this - assuming it is a kosher UK spec car.

Might it be possible that it is spec'd for somewhere else in Europe/Ireland and is coming into UK as an 'import'; particularly as it is being supplied by an 'agent'.

Following this theory; was the DGS g'box ever available with the PD170 engine, say, elsewhere in Europe (I know it wasn't in UK)?

More detective work required, I think.

The RS TDI in Ireland came with rear electric windows as standard, along with the Ipod connector and dual climate control

Checked with my Skoda dealer, via chassis number, it is CR, yes it is diesel and DSG.

Must be old stock, I agree it's the agents fault. Dealer can't retrofit leccy windows(boll@x) and biggest problem is need car for next week as it's for my business and everything else arranged around it!!

That's a relief; well done, but surely can't be 'old' stock. So MUST have been a ****-up at the factory!

Just go and get some compensation then!!!!!!!!

Different car sourced, right spec, wrong delivery. Another week to wait!! Better late than never so full marks to agent, or maybe me for complaining so bitterly?

  • 3 months later...

I have an Octavia sport and it has rear electric windows. I thought they all did from the Ambiente up, so i'm surprised the vRS hasn't.

Personally, i couldn't care less about rear electric windows.

Rear electric windows, along with jumbo box and climate control, have been part of the vRS spec since March '07 as part of a 'free spec upgrade' promotion and have now since the 2009 MY been included in the standard vRS spec.
