interior light

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

You know what its kike on a sunday no F1 and you have finished all the ironing that your wife told you to do before she went to work and its too early for beer.

Well my mind turned to the packet of 4 red led's that i bought from halfrauds to put in the interior light just light my old octy1 vrs.

So that is just what i have done although this time i fitted them inside the interior light and i think it looks good .

When i find out how to remove the sunglasses holder above the interior light i will run the other two to the rear light.

Here are some pics Picture593.jpgPicture592.jpgPicture591.jpg

Just pop a coin into the side of it, towards the rear and pry it out. It will give. If yours takes excessive force to remove just take out the glass off the light, undo the two screws and you can push it out from behind.

Are the interior light complete units the same part front and back as I am waiting for one to come into the scrappy so I can get the front one with the extra map reading lights fitted, just like the pics above, if they are the same I will also fit a front one to the rear and then wire them up so all the lights map ones included, come on by using the front only

I will also fit a more powerful bulbs in the centre once I know the size required,

If thats the case mine soon will have:thumbup:

They're the same size, the Octavia facelift will have identical interior lights front and back. I don't think extra wires will be needed to install a second front light in the back, might even be plug&play.

You will need 1 additional wire and a diode (at least) to power the rear light with the front.

Nice little mod that.

Good for dogging!

Why do you need a diode??? all Iv done in the past is run the live and earth to the rear ones and disconnected the original rear wires

Mines only the classic

I did this on my superb as well I got hold of a front light unit out of an old Passat and 2 of the interior side lights that are next to the grab handles that did not have the on off switches fitted ran the wires to to the front and soldered them in worked a treat

Well, if you disconnect the original leads you don't need the diodes, but if you need to preserve original operation AND make it turn on along with the front one you need the diode. Without one, turning on the rear light will also turn on the front.

Don't need diode, only have to extend three wires to rear site (+,GND,door switch).

Could you try and translate this to English please

Sorry, but nothing to translate....

The only cyrillic text on right side explains wire color on russian language (don't speak german , but will give a try :)).

ws(weiß) - white

sw(schwarz) - black

ro(rot) - red

br(braun) - brown

gn(grün) - green

bl(blau) - blue

gr(gray) - gray

li(violett:confused:) - purple

ge(gelb) - yellow

or(orange) - orange

---

Just to note:

1) W1 is front interior light

2) W44 is rear interior light

3) Symbol "Rhombus" denotes Classic variant (only front, without map reading lamps)

4) Symbol "Star" denotes Elegance variant.
