xenon kick up, why?

Featured Replies

Just wondering why there is a kick up to the left on xenon lights, got flashed by one person who pulled out from a left turn last night who thought the kick up was full beam,,, the soon realised it wasnt:rofl:. so question is why cant we legally have them flat beamed?

it isn't just xenons that do that.

My standard lights have a "kick up" in the left corner.

Looking at a picture the other day from abroad and the "kick up" was on the other side!

er, all lights have it to illuminate the side of the road(pavements and verges etc).

Yes but why do they have a kick up on the left... on both lights? probably just to stop light from blinding people coming the other way... hence why its the other way round in other countries and why you have to get the little converter thingys!

I've been doing a lot of driving in the dark on duals recently and a few I've overtaken have then flashed me thinking my mains were on. I presume because the xenons are bright and kick up to the left to illuminate signs, when I drive past other cars I light up their interior. Nowt I can do about it and my left light beam cuts off just below street signs so I know it isn't set high.
