Engine serial # on 1.6 FSI

Featured Replies

I went for our equivalent of an MOT today, the first this car is getting, but I couldn't complete it as the techs there were unable to locate the engine serial number. Part of the procedure here is to compare that against the papers.

So, can anybody give me a hint as to where to look for on the BLF 1.6 FSI engine?

So far I can tell you it's not on the side towards the accessory belt, neither on the front, or next to the battery box, as far as naked eyes and a flashlight can see.

Thanks everybody.

As long as it's the same as on VW's it's on a sticker, on the top of the timing belt cover.

The engine number is usually stamped on the front block on a flat surface that runs along next to the bell housing.

But you will be lucky to see it with the engine fitted.

I figured about the same, so I booked it for today at a bigger facility (not that close by) equipped with an endoscope type camera.

I'll let you know how it went.
