Featured Replies

I am thinking more on the lines of the fact that me and the mrs will both have bluetooth turned on all the time and one of us will get in the car. will this automatically pair with the car. dont want to have to keep turnign things on and off. I understand that if we both get in togehter there is potential for confusion but if we get in seperately will it sort itself out ?

In a word, yes. It will sort itself out, provided the other phone is not within 10m of the car when the ignition is turned on.

Then you're just in for a whole heap of trouble, as the car may still pair with the phone left on the hall table instead of the one driving away in the car ;)

Dont forget that the skoda bluetooth kit also supports the handsfree protocol.

I am able to use my iphone G1 perfectly in the superb2 with bluetooth on the Columbus, i can browse my phone book, see my signal strength etc. even though the iphone doesn't support rSAP, it does support HFP

Well, I've eventually solved the rSAP issue on my phone. It's been a long journey, but I've got a working solution, and am finally able to use the car's phone functionality (I know spending £20k + on a carphone seems excessive, but Vertu seem to do ok).

I've just posted a new HowTo thread on what I did if anyone's interested (as it's a long process).

UK cars only come with GSM III premium bluetooth, which doesn't support HFP. GSM II, is only available in certain countries in mainland Europe, but it does support HFP. I suspect this is what you have in your car.

can you specify a "master" phone that the car will look for first ? I have just installed a new stereo in my passat and it has bluetooth phone connectivity. Its a brilliant piece of kit for only £180. it has a 6 line LCD display and it will display phonebook on the screen so you can leave the phone in the boot if you want and still have full functionality. Even supports voice dialling with nokia phone. it has the facilty to pari with up to 5 phones and you can specify one of them as the master so me + missus can get in the car and it will always pair to my phone and not her's. can the columbus do this ?

You can pair with more than one phone, and I believe the Columbus will search for them in the order in which they were paired.

Therefore, you would pair your phone first, if you wanted it to always be the 'master'.

I'll give it a try with mine tomorrow, and let you know exactly what it does.
