Water leaking in.

Featured Replies

Father-in-laws Superb is now leaking,

Water is coming in through the roof somewhere and leaking into the interior.

Can't see any obvious signs of entry but the headlining is wet.

anyone any ideas?

Just to add, it is an Elegance with Sunroof.

Hi mdk1,

Had similar problem myself recently (Elegance with sunroof) and turns out the drainage channel was blocked - these can be seen when front doors are open and a bit of rubber tubing sticks out, give them a squeeze and see if water runs out then try and blow an airline through them to avoid the problem going forward.

Hope this helps.

This latest intrusion of water into the car after the famous wet passenger side trick means I am now without any interior lights at all !! I know there's loads of advice on how to sort this on these forums just need some free time and dry weather wouldn't go amiss either !

Not on skodas, but on other cars the drainage channels block up and cause a leak.

The one we had issues with was pine needles had got into the drain and they don't break down quickly so slowed the flow allowing leaf bits to build up and cause the thing to make a mess.

I forget if they hosed outs out or just used an air line at suitable pressure but once clear it was ok again.

I don't know if you have a flexible drain cleaner (the rounded tip 2-3mm springs that are long) but that might go down far enough to clear any debris.

Thanks alot Tynebomb.

He has been out and both drains were blocked, both have now been cleared, seems strange that for the past few years no problem the all of a sudden a problem on both sides.

Has the windscreen been replaced, and not done properly or has the roof aerial been replaced / damaged?

Just my thoughts...

I've just had a similar problem after noticing a few drips of water on the inside: also an Elegance with Sunroof.

Does anyone know if the drain hole in the sunroof recess is visible when the sunroof is open? Is it possible to wash through the dust and dirt that is visible when you squeeze the end of the tube at the door?

Don't forget the rear sunroof drain tubes - these come out under the rear bumper which is easy enough to take off.

Good old VAG - they need a lesson about gravity, trees and water at Wolfsburg.

I've got a leak in mine too , there seems to be a piece of the rubber sunroof seal missing and maybe this is letting water in .

Have to try the suggestions , see if I can flush the tubes out.

Just had a torrential downpour and noticed that the headlining is all wet.

5 minutes on Briskoda and the probelm is sorted! (Blocked drain tubes)

What a wonderful thing these forums are!

Many thanks Tynebomb.
