Fabia no,no,no

Featured Replies

Just serviced a 1400 8v Fabia for a friend and got the chance to compare back to back with my Felicia. Oh dear it was a bit quicker it was a bit quieter it was a bit better put together the dash was easier to read, i had a lot more leg room(6'2") it had very very light power steering all in all a much nicer enviroment than even my L&K, would i own one. No, no no no. Where was the fun the rawness that makes me grin every time i thrash my little giant killer. My felly even felt like it handled better in the wet, I'm afraid VW engineered all the fun out and it just felt like a very dull boring every day mundane hatch like so many others out there, sorry VW but the Czechs engineers get my vote this time:thumbup:

Some more miles under it's belt (or should that be chain) and that chain will start rattling :D

It's also a bit more expensive or i'd swap like a shot.

wasn't the favorit designed by porcshe anyway??

Engine mounts had input/design by Porsche, and suspension geometry was set-up by Porsche - from what I can tell from YouTube - Top gear road test Skoda Favorit (1989) As the Felicia shares these components I guess you can claim they're designed by Porsche :D

yeah, those pesky germans... obviously clueless:rolleyes:

Some of the less involved drive is just that it's newer, of course. Try an older Golf for comparison...

Bertone did the styling IIRC

I know I know the Fav started the vw involvment but the newer Fabia just seemed dull with basically the same pushrod engine, no dilema's just does the job. I guess this is what most of the populace wants, but for me it was just dull sorry. :( The Felly just has a bigger grin factor and to me thats more important than badging or who made what. I fix new Fords all day and they are a dull too. Like the st fiesta and focus lots of horses but compared to the old gt days a bit dull to drive as the traction control stability programs etc...... make you think your a good driver but the computers are doing it all for you and sorting it all out. I don't know but as I say i'm Oldskool:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I'll bet Lewis Hamilton will disagree :D

Since we have both a Felly (mine) and an Octy Mk1 (SWMBO's) in the family I see what you mean and agree. The Octy is a very comfy transport device, the Felly is a car. For better and for worse.

Guess I have to confess of being guilty of the same :D

Old school is just way more fun. That's why I love the Favorit; I call it the tank not only because it's build like one, but because it sort of handles like one too. It's raw and yet in a way it's sophisticated and smooth. Oldskool has character.

seconded

Opposed :thumbdwn:

Mmmm no tried a Fabia, but in the last week have driven:

08 Fiesta 1.4 TDci - gutless, stall happy and dull. Handled well, but only got 45mpg..

01 VW Bora 2.0 - Boring, refined, confortable and boring. Not fast but still very thirsty

00 Fiesta 1.3i - Tappety, gutless, but handles OK. OK for a runabout.

My 97 Felatio 1.9D - Rough, loud, rattly, broke down, but I still wouldnt swap - still does 52mpg all day long.

Would like to try a Fabia VRs with a modest re-map though. That I might swap for.

or a Mk II Granada Coupe for some reason. The Sweeney?
