any ideas where to start looking guys plz.:eek::confused::(

Hi Simon,

Search is your friend, as this is a very common problem in all cars based on this generation of the Passat platform.

Check out:

for more information.

Having said that, it's usually the passenger side which sees a problem. Are any other areas of carpet wet?

no other areas of the carpet are wet.

just found a good few inches of water in the bulkhead round he battery, i've cleaned the bung out and drained the water and all the channels around the pollen filter.

if the bulkhead was full up with the car parked on the slope could this be the problem.

i've also cheched the rear door drain holes and they are clear, had door card off and no water in door.

just taken drivers seat out and found water in front footwell, but carpet not wet on top yet.

When you say parked on a slope, do you mean facing up the slope? Because that is most likely the reason so much water came through into the car.

I have removed the pollen filter and siliconed underneath mine, and removed the two rubber bungs under the battery.

Prevention is better that cure, hope you get it sorted asap.

Agreed.

Get that pollen filter housing sealed!

Check the bonnet cable grommet but if the water has come up high enough it could well have come in through the ECU box as the bodyshell has the same aperture on both sides.

thanks for the help guys,

sorry it took a while to get back to you,

all work no play as they say.

yes the car is parked nose up the slope. i've had to take the full interior out, found the floor wet on both sides of the car front and back, carpet sopping wet underneith.

currently drying out in brotherinlaws garage with a heater going, nearly dry.

there are water marks around the bonnet cable gromet but the grommet is in place,i think the water must have came up very high.

once again thanks guys.

Hi

I had water 3" deep on the front passengers side of my superb. It turned out to be the sun roof drain plugs blocked. I ound this out whe i went aroun a corner and could hear water above my head. I cleaned out the drains and that side of the car is now dry.

The problem i have now 6 months after fixing the one leek is i two have water in the drivers side rear foot well!!!!!! How can the water get from the frount bulk head to the rear of the car???

I have just gone out and removed the battery(what a job) any way the place wear the battery sits was full of water. I mean about 4" deep. there was a bit of twix sweet packet and some leaves blocking the hole.

But i still dont under stand why the back of the car is wet and not the front??? Any thoughts.
