What would you do?

Hello,

I'm in a bit of a quandry at the moment.

I work for Ford and we've got an offer on for employees at the moment, where we can buy a Kuga for £1500 and run it for a year, and then hand it back. I'm not saying that I desire a Kuga in any way shape or form (!) but I'm aware of what an absolute bargain it is, when you take into consideration deprecation, maintenance, road tax etc. Judging by the current market, I'll probably lose that alone in deprecation. I got my vRS back in July this year (Silver, 05, 25k miles, Xenons, Cruise and Sunroof) for £7k which was a damn good price at the time, but I dread to think what it's worth now (on 28k miles).

So the question is, should I get a Kuga for a year? I know there's the hassle of having to get a new car at the end of it, but I'm tempted by the fact of driving around in a brand new shiny motor! I do love my vRS though...

If you're happy with the fabia and can afford to keep running it, I would go with the quality motor rather than the apparently bargain one. :) That's me though. Would you be happy for a year? What happens after that year? etc etc.

I would say keep your vRS I do not think the Kuga would be fun enough compared to the vRS.

I would take the ford assuming you get a bit of say on the spec/engine combination.

£1500 for a new car including warranty for a year is as you say very very cheap and you'd save that on depreciation on the fabia never mind the ford.

It all depends how happy you are with the fabia.

I'm assuming it's fords way of creating a nearly new and used market for it.

Edit: it's £995 for one in solid white, which is even better value. Metallics start at £1495.

The Kuga is a 2.0 TDCi Zetec (£20,900 new).

After a year, you can either hand the car straight back or buy it back (an additional 14k). If I were to go ahead with the deal, I'd hand it back.

I don't know what to do - about a month after getting the vRS I moved house so close to work that I can walk, so I only really drive at weekends.

Keep the opinions coming!

Can you SORN the Fabia and take the Kuga for a year? I would do this over selling the Fabia as it is not a good time to sell. Then you still have a car at the end of it.

Spiffing good advice told chap !!! Chocs away and engines firing on all four pots lets blow him away in our Fabias hahaha !!!:cool:

yeah what ^^^ he said lol. Id sorn the furbie, and get it back out in a year. Will keep miles down too!

What would happen insurance wise and if you were to have an accident?

Would all that be the same?

as above sorn the fabia for a year that we it will have low milage and you wont have the hassle of looking for a new car when you give the kiga back.

Does that mean in a years time there'll be a glut of Kugas (ex "management" of course) on the second hand( sorry pre owned!) market

I guess that they are trying to get the sales figures up where the Nissan Qashqai sits at the moment which must be its biggest rival.
