Mileage limit for 1.9 TDI re-map?

Featured Replies

As per question - is there a limit (years elapsed or miles) for the car to have a re-map?

I see 60,000 miles mentioned, but also that these engines are supposed to be very tough. Is it that the engine becomes loose and tired after 60,000?

Not that I am wanting a re-map now, but in the future I may have one that helps economy.

Thank you, TH

Hi there,

I a not entirely sure on the best time to do it, but I had a generic re-map on the VRS when I only had 3000 miles on the clock.

Had no problems and not a worry... my skoda dealer where not too happy but I know for certain most warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on so was not worried...

I remapped mine at about 85000 miles and have no problem so far, now on 92000

The main thing to consider on a high milage car when remapping is the health of:

a) the turbo

B) the clutch

If the turbo is already clogged up with crap then upping the amount of boost could kill it.

Same with the clutch, if its had a hard life, a remap could see it off for good.

If both of those go, your looking at a £2,000 bill almost.

Just do it! Think how well run it will be!

I always remember Jabbasport telling me one of the best 20vt remaps on a stock car they did, was on a seat leon cupra with over 200,000 miles on the clock.

We've remapped the 1.9TDI's with delivery mileage on, up to 135,000 miles. Very strong engines

OK - thank you for all the info.

Mine has 37,000 so it should be OK by the sounds of it.

37,000 is no problem at all

I remapped mine at ~132k I think, and haven't had a problem, just ticked over 137k.
