skoda are a disgrace - this is not on..

Featured Replies

The problem effects 1.8T DSG only.

All other production is uneffected.

I thought this issue has affected every model in the range.

Strangely enough, here in Finland there are no problems with delivering Superbs in time....the production is going ahead with full speed, says my local dealer....and it`s not even April 1st.....:)

but then surely this gives them (a) the capacity to deal with FIRM customer orders and (B) the motivation to deal with orders promptly and give good customer service so they dont loose more orders.

Hi everyone, good news, my dealer rang today to say my Elegance is at the docks waiting to board, hope it does not get seasick. So should get it end of this month or begining of next. Even the sun has come out to celebrate.

When did you order the car?

James, ordered the car on September 26th.

now i am really not impressed. i ordered on 9th oct and i am looking at 3 months min wait.

jcblincs, sorry if i have upset you did not mean to.:( I was just so pleased to hear from my dealer.

When you ordered your car did your dealer put it down as being sold.

That's crazy the difference from Sept 26th to Oct 9th is ridiculous. Can't believe yours will be here in a couple of weeks a Jonathans is going to be ages away.

SuperbLady- Is yours a standard spec vehicle with no options?

James, it is an Superb Elegance, 2.0 CRDPF 170 DSG, Black Magic Pearl, Ivory Leather, Black Carpet.

Optional Extras

Noblesse Wood Inlays

Auto Dimming Rear Mirror

Towing Hitch Preparation

Park Assist

As John W said, it's a 1.8t DSG issue.

I know of other Superbs ordered on 10.10.08 which showed week 46 and now have production numbers, which mean they will be built within the next week, which is week 46.

I also know of another 1.8t DSG which will not be built until 2009!

Sorry, but don't shoot the messenger!

I have just been informed that the car i ordered and paid a deposit for 4 weeks ago , based on the computer showing a built slot available in week 46 (next week) will now not be built until 2009. I am also told that all production of superbs for 2008 have been put on hold until 2009 so anyone who has ordered a car in the last few weeks or is ordering soon will not see the car until well into 2009.

This is a disgrace. One rule of selling products is that you should not over promise and under deliver. Especially at the moment as the global financial situation is not good and poeple are being cautious with their money. I am very close to cancelling my order and going to a manufacturer who can deliver on their obligations / promises.

i bet skoda have known about this for some time but have not told anyone so as not to stop people ordering. I have effectively ordered a car that cant be bought.

This is not fair and reasonble. Maybe i should ask for skoda to re-imburse the loss of interest in my deposit that i paid that is now sat in someone elses bank account.

this is also going to screw up the dealers' sales figures as the orders weer placed early in quarter 4 but will not materialise until quarter 1.

its more annoying as my car will likely be the first petrol DSG in the UK. I cant go looking for what cars are already in the country or for an ex-demo as there simply arent any in petrol.

IF YOU HAVE ORDERED IN THE PAST FEW WEEKS I SUGGEST YOU GIVE YOUR DEALER A CALL AND START ASKING SOME VERY DIRECT QUESTIONS. GET THEM TO PHONE SKODA UK AS THE DEALER ORDERING COMPUTER IS TELLING LIES - IT SAYS MY BUILD WEEK IS WK50 BUT WHEN THE DEALER CALLED SKODA THEY SAID IT WOULD NOT BE THIS YEAR.

i believe some senior people from SKODA UK look at this forum so the more of us that jump on the bandwaggon and complain about this the more there a chance of getting a response.

that wouldnt wash with me. id be cancelling my order if i were in your shoes and taking my business elswhere !

exactly James !! why woudl i want to change from a "silky smooth and quiet" to a "bag-o-spanners" just for the sake of a few weeks when i plan to keep the car 5 yrs !!

also silver with black interior is the worst colour combination for us - our A6 is this colour and we have been driving it for 6 years. we want a change !!

the problem is we dont want to go elsewhere !! name me a new car on the market today that ticks all the same boxes as the superb ? we couldnt find one and we looked for about 8 months !!! its very annoying but as we plan to keep the car for a long time (circa 5 yrs) then it woudl be silly of us to have a knee jerk reaction and run off to another brand and then regret it. The dealer is just as pi**ed off as we are about it and is being very good in trying (in vain) to expediate things.

a little uncalled for dont you think ?

I was merely replying to the poster who had bizarely suggested i beat the waiting list by looking at an ex-demo TDi . As i have ordered a petrol I thought this was a bit of an odd posting so was questioning this in a humourous way !!

Your sense of humour bypass operation clearly went very well !!! :D:rofl::rofl:

would it be more appropriate to say "cant you skip to the next mp3 track on the columbus head unit ? " :):):)

oh no...i cant ...cos i havent got my car yet !!:D

think of it this way, at least it is not sitting in a field, or at the docks somwhere for months, its factory fresh!

Was simply a suggestion that as you appear to be so unhappy about the whole situation that you might be considering looking at something else, thats all... I can understand your frustration but short of complaining to SUK and the dealer and ranting on here, there's not a great deal you can do other than to cancel your order and look elsewhere for alternative options.

No offence but as previous posters have suggested, there is a back log of customer who have been / will likely be waiting far longer and if I were SUK I would be priortising the orders on a first in first out basis which will obviously have a knock on effect to later orders.

As I say, I'd be frustrated too but what can you do!

would it be more appropriate to say "cant you skip to the next mp3 track on the columbus head unit ? " :):):)

Possibly. It's just that you keep dissing (hey, I'm getting hip now, a bit like James's 'sick') other peoples preference for diesel over petrol. It's each to their own, right? No need for the constant 'bag of spanners' references. It's almost like you're mocking other peoples choices.

I've test driven my 170 CR Diesel - a bag of spanners it aint!

No idea when mine is due though, ordered 10 October, was told delivery in week of 19th December, though by the looks of things on here, it could be the new year.

Have to agree with JCBLincs - you are hardly going to consider a completely different car, that you will have to live with for 5 years, for the sake of 5 weeks delay. the point is that Skoda (and other manufacturers too) are shockingly bad at delivery from order. What other major purchase in life takes this long to come through. I would wager that you could move house quicker than buying a new factory built car.... well, not at the moment, but you get the idea..!

I too chose the Superb from a pretty large, but pretty unimpressive Company Car list. Much to choose from, but nothing comes close to the Superb on value. As such, I'm peeved if mine is delayed.
