Number Plate - Your views

Hi there, have owned by Black Octy MK I VRS for a year now, it's on an 05 plate; nothing special about the plate. Looking at potentially getting a cherished transfer though and wondered what you thought, here's what I have whittled it down to:

RS05 VRS

R005 ALX

RS5 4LEX

As you may have guessed, my name is Alex :D!! All of the above are £250 inclusive of everything, expensive/cheap....I dunno. I am going to be keeping the car for hopefully a long time, the third one on there is a '54' plate and is also illegally spaced..:(...As you can see there is an 'RS' theme to it also, am I making it to obvious? Have seen quite a few others on the road with VRS plates; personal preference I spose - it's not as bad as a sun strip saying, for example "206":rofl:!!

So what do you think, shall I just stop being a ponse and forget it or buy one of the above, I have already modded my VRS to the max...., well it's how I like it so the £££ wouldn't be spent anywhere else before you say that!

Thanks in anticipation - Alex

Buy S50 VRS - currently in the For Sale section :)

Don't really like any of the above TBH - but then I don't like 'new style' plates in general very much, so would object to paying money for one...

Steve

RS54 LEX would need spacing like that to avoid the law. :)

Absolutely, which would then look rubbish and random. So that's that one out then!

In my honest opinion I do find the new 'personalised plates' a bit of a joke really......

What I mean is that for me a personal registration looks best and stands out with as few letter's / number's as possible and the DVLA are just making money on these new plates with 7 letter's / number's which in my opinion force people to incorrectly space them......

Have considered them in the past but agree theres no point unless you get one with 6 caracters or less really.

I have just bought one infact but it isn't going on Nelly... its for my bus!! lol

RS54 LEX would need spacing like that to avoid the law. :)

Was gonna say I'd go for the 1st or 3rd one there but as the last appears to be illegal in the UK then maybe the 1st after all? :)

never liked these plates, one must never get over one's station!!

correction, one must never get above one's station!!

You can edit earlier posts you've made you know! ;)

Steve

live & learn,thanks.

no chance of your intials, then 05 VRS ?

For something different how about plates made up with a flag and plate surround? :D:rofl:

why not save the money and write over the whole of the car this is my personalised car and my name is a . t055er

P3 n15

Kn08 hed ;)

I'd go with the RS5 4LEX...

(Also, my name is also Alex, this is my private plate..)

I always wanted one that read sh!t hot

I put a "cherished" plate on my vRS.

Mainly to hide it's age - it's actually on a 56 but with the plate I've got you can't really see how old she is:

It was my wife who suggested getting a plate - it was a birthday present.

Whilst looking for a plate I was only looking at two options:

1. Get another 56 plate

or

2. Get an old plate so it hid the age of the vehicle

I didn't want to get a plate that made the vehicle look older - so any plate that could quite legimately show my vehicle as being older I ruled out.

Anyone seeing my car knows full well it isn't actually a "P plate".

As for illegal spacing - as they are cracking down on plates that aren't in the right font and have the BS code and postcode missing from them I'd say it isn't really worth the hassle.

RS05 VRS

R005 ALX

RS5 4LEX

As you may have guessed, my name is Alex :D!!

It may not be available/already issued or anything, but how about phoning DVLA and seeing if VR5 4LEX is a possibility?

I have a private plate, and there was one option out of all those in the world which would be perfect for my name. I phoned DVLA and got told that this plate was not available, but had never been registered so might come up at a future auction. Eventually it did and i got it - cost around £1,200 all in but if you divide that by how many years i intend to have it for then it is peanuts :D

  • 4 weeks later...

How about B31I END?

Once saw a ASTON MARTIN DBS in Manchester with AVE 1T as the number plate. Quality
