Skoda 136 Rapid Sport

Featured Replies

Anyone know if any of these survive? I remember going into my local Skoda dealer and seing this white lowered rapid with a breathed on engine and full body skirts looked and sounded like a rally car:)

Used to read a lot about them also in the old Skoda newsletters, loved the letters pages where people would write in and say what they'd been up to in their cars. If anyone still has any of these...... give me an email.

:) I'm part way through restoring one at the moment.

Lovely car I really wanted one of these as a kid but couldn't afford this at the moment unfotunately as it would just be a toy.I nearly bought a standard Rapid as a first car but went to a stuck up private school and my mate who ran a 105S got some real stick. Really regret not buying it and keeping it now. Will have to try to fnd the old brochure and dream. Skoda did one of these that showed the car going in as an old Rapid and coming out modified with details on engine mods etc. Anybody got a spare one of these for my collection if not I will try and find on ebay.

They usually come up a lot on ebay.I had a few but sold them all.Otherwise, look on flickr, and search Skoda rapid sport, and the full brochure is photographed on there.

Just how I remember them, good luck with this!:)

indeed, that is a rather pretty rapid...

Dave, I like the "kermit green", and doesn't a sport need the bodykit?

heh, his projected "after" picture has the bodykit :)... not too sure about the green to be honest, I think it looks very good in white... yellow would be better of course

I didn't mean that I necessarily liked the idea of green + bodykit!

:) My intention is to return the car back to original Sort spec, white with colour coded bodykit. Shame the car I have ended up in the state it has, especially as there can't be too many guenuine Sport models about now.

it'll be back to its former glory soon :), is the steering wheel in the pics on flikr a sport special one as well? of is the one in Dave's pics the steering wheel for the sport?

My father currently has garaged an ORIGINAL Rapid Sport. It's got a spare panels and bodykit parts too, just incase ;)

I'll try to get some pics to put up here soon, I had no idea they were that rare. No wonder he never drives it. It's purely for showing when he retires and has time.

I accept that this car was originally white, but the bodykit was offered on other colours back in the day, and kermit green looks like an original Skoda colour (maybe more on the 120 than the Rapid but...)

I'll get some of it stood in the garage. But I think it'll best wait til next year in good weather before we get it out and give it a dust off and a run. He's very protective of it!

:)Mine was painted with Citroen Bamboo green paint, long before it was mine.

Ah :D I remember a racing 2CV that started off as a "Bamboo", and the lettering was modified to make it read "Rambo".
