File / folder synchronisation software

Featured Replies

I'm basically looking for a piece of software that will easily allow me backup files off my laptop to a external hard drive.

Ideally I'd like the ext drive to be able to be used a normal ext drive, but if for example I ran the programme if would compare the source and destination folders and copy across only the changed data.

I've had a look on Sourceforge and there seems to be plenty to choose from. Anyone have any recommendations?

Win XP, NTFS (both drives)

Synctoy. Google it- It's an MS freebie.

Another vote for synctoy from Ed :)

I hate recommending MS, but Synctoy works well.

Wow, yes that works really rather well. Couldn't be any simpler and does exactly what I wanted!

Many thanks all

Thanks for the above. Can't open any of the links as they are blocked at work but I shall take a look once I get home tonight.

Like the idea of a nice simple batch file, but also lie pretty gui's - lol
