Featured Replies

Hi Guy's picking up my first Fabia vrs tomorrow its a 54 plate in Black

It's got full history 77k miles and the timing belt and tensioner have just been done

Should i worry its done 77k miles ???

Can i ask yous what i should look out for when i am going to view

Also it has full leather was this a option Thanks for any advice given

Hi mate, good choice in car!!:D

The mileage shouldnt be a problem, as long as its got a FSH and has been well cared for. Leather came as a option for the vRS and iirc it was a expensive one if you got it through the dealer. I'd say the DMF's are common (across the VAG range) so listen for that when the engine is running.

I'm sure someone with alot more knowledge that me will be along shortly:thumbup:

These are things i will check thanks guys

Ian dual mass issues will that be a chattering on tick over like other car manufacturers

Sorry always had a ford and thats what they do :o

The guy says the leather was put in at the factory and as i said its just had the belt and tensioners done and it has full skoda history

The guy wants £4900 for it does that sound about right ??

Thats a good price coming from a Main Dealer mate:thumbup:

Yeah, ticking/knocking noise, just like you mentioned on the Fords. 77k, its not even run in yet!!:D Enjoy the new car bud and make sure you post pics:thumbup:

Thanks Ian i will mate

Drive it over a speed bump and listen for any knocking noises at the front - the bushes / front arb is another common fault, as MODvrs mentioned above the leaking rear doors is a classic fault! Have a sniff for a wet dog smell - dont let this put you off the car though its easy to fix yourself if the dealer won't. Enjoy the test drive <:)

Sounds a good price - i paid £5700 with 64k on the clock about 4 - 5 months ago, that was also a skoda dealer.

I'd check for evidence of water leaking into the car. Rear door cards are the most common area. Lot's of spongey foam under the carpets to soak it up, so often not that noticeable at first glance.

Top bit of advice Skoda like to charge lots of money for this job when your car is out of warranty but like the guys said its an easy job if you know how. Or on the other hand if you dont like me your stuffed lol.

My best advice even if they are not leaking (They Will Eventually) is get the doors resealed. From experience I would demand this before it left the forecourt or no deal !

Thanks guys for all the advise these are things i will look for tomorrow

I can't wait

console arm bushes... drive over some speed bumps and listen for a creaking noise.... look for the nearside edge of the front tyres being worn....

otherwise 77k no problem, especially as the cam belts just been done ;)

They have changed the cam belt the tensioners and the water pump

And also serviced it for me

Well picked up the vrs fantastic car

I wish i had bought one ages ago

Yes enjoy. Cracking little car which is quick, feels much bigger than it is on a long run and very economical. My only gripe is the body roll when pushed hard but if you are of a mind you can do something about that. :thumbup:Not bad really but I came from a 106 where such a thing did not exist!:D

The only thing i have to do to it is The drivers seat foam has to be replaced on the base looks like the person before me had a big *** :D

It felt very good on the 400 mile journey i drove it back on £30 worth of diesel

This wasn't in Essex somewhere was it? I think there was a post about it a week ago or so

I rang the guy up about it and it sounds very familiar to what you were saying, he just wanted to give a **** price for my car

Should you be worried about the mileage?

No

The TDI-PD Engine is solid and should last ages if looked after well.

My 10 year old Felicia has 111k miles and wants more :D

You seem to be doing everything wisely like checking service histories etc so good luck!!!

depressing how cheap these cars are going for now. was thinking of selling up just cos i have itchy feet, no other reason really, but with them selling for prices like that it doesn't really seem worth it.

Where do you live? Falkirk by any chance? Black with black leather??????? On Autotrader and ebay for £4995?

You sod! Beat me to it by 2hrs!

Found out the other day SkodaBrian lives near me, near Falkirk yeah.

I also have a Black Fabia with full black leather!

Quality!

Was the same car I was after! My mate went and test drove it on Saturday morning - called me at 1.30 to tell me it was a good sound motor - called they guy back to be told a guy from Falkirk had just been down and bought it! Totally gutted!
