Boot lock and door wont open

Featured Replies

I had a look at an Octavia my friend was selling on behalf of his neighbour, its only £500, but the rear passenger door wont open from inside nor out, nor is the same window working, and also the boot wont lock manually nor will lock on the central locking. Before I part with my hard earned I thought I would ask on here.

Btw the car has a Kenwood CD player, and 17" league alloys and brand new tyres, and I think I can get the car for less than £500, trouble is its only a 1.6 GLX, but I think it would be better than the Almera the wife is using.

What do you think? thanks in advance.

Si

I think the passenger door is probably a broken wire in the connection from the B-pillar. The hard part of sorting that is getting the door card off without damaging it; a new door loom is only about £20 I think.

As for the boot, do the HRW, numberplate lights and rear wiper (if applicable) work? If so, it's probably the mechanism; if not it's probably the wiring to the bootlid as well.

I do know that the numberplate lights work so I guess its the mechanism, strange tho that it wont lock using the key although it does turn to the locked position.

Get the Haynes; it's only about £20 (maybe less if you buy direct by phone and quote Briskoda?). It's not their best, but it does tell you about the locks and door cards (and yes the cards can be removed with the door closed; it's not easy but it can be done).

I guess the rear seat has to be removed?

Not a place I've ever had to go myself, but I know other people have done it.

I have the same problem with my rear RHS passenger door too. It won't open with the central locking or from inside. I am a bit wary of trying to get the door card off while it's closed. Seems like a right b*tch of a job!

If you manage to get a result, be sure to post the solution, but I fear I will have to make a trip to the local Skoda garage. :(
