New exhaust fitted

Featured Replies

Well, it's so short it didn't take long this evening. In less than 2 hours I had the exhaust I've pretty much always wanted....

Allard big bore downpipe off the turbo, short bit of 2.5" I.D cut angular to a 3" pipe cut to create a shallow angle then "helped" into an oval shape, which terminates behind one of the sills. Sits a bit low at the moment, which can be sorted later should I have issues... BUT, the noise! Oh my GOD!

All being well, my new map will be on the car tomorrow night as well. The noise is just something else though! ;)

Sounds nice mate, any pics of the install? i know it is an a difficault place to take pics.

Also are there any affects with the hybrid and no back pressure? like some say there is with the standard turbo?

:wrthless:

Post them up then!

A side exit???

No boxes right off the turbo is the way forward!

And yes, the noise.......

PICTURES! :D

Yeah, I guess pics would be advisable.... :o This is my effort at "point and click" as I cannot see the exhaust from outside at all!

This is how it looks from the tail - I know there is a bit of a kink in the top, but in all likelihood I'll be nipping back to have the roof of the exhaust turned downwards a bit to keep the soot off the car. Note this is function over form to the extreme!

And this is how it is secured under the car, using a "bobbin" exhaust mount. More than ample clearance for the fuel lines above, but long term I will be considering a thin metal plate to go over them, or replace the lines with metal ones.

With any turbo and no back pressure, there will be an affect of some sort.

Difference is the hybrid.

No back pressure on a turbo can cause the turbo to spin too fast and thats a no no. (not always happens tho).

With the hybrid turbos, they are made to be able to spin faster and are much better built, so can handle this.

BLOODY HELL JASON!! lol you need to get a sound clip of some sort up mate ;)

I'm hopefully getting my exhaust done within the next week or so, nothing as "inventive" as yous thouogh

Lets see how long my standart turbo lasts!

Lasted through some bootage already, and a day at the 1/4mile.

Exhaust looks quality!

I should hopefully get hold of a bumper to cut up soon!

Yes, the rear bumper looks somewhat odd with nothing filling that gap :o

Quick video done!

YouTube - The mongrel Skoda Fabia's new exhaust note. TDI!

First thing I noticed was there's a little rattle coming from somewhere every now and then. The other thing I noticed was the car took a little longer to start-up (oh well! :D) and it's even more like a tractor. Turbo whistle is very obvious now!

I'll get a video of mine tomorrow.

Mine sounds alot more whistly.

Your sounds a lot more meaty! HA HA!

That comment sounds so gay... :gay:

Tagged in an appropriate smiley there! ;)

 see what you mean about the starting ;) lol

Noticed any difference, apart from the noise :)

Only driven half a mile back from the exhaust place down the road, so no. Just a lot louder in general. Work commute should be fun, as will the drive to Dorchester tomorrow evening to get my map uploaded.

lol oh well eh Jason lol

i'm quite sure you'll get used to it ;)

Will you be running full power after the map or just a portion of it?

Will you be running full power after the map or just a portion of it?

It will be running under-par when it is loaded tomorrow. However, once I get my 4 bar map sensor hooked up to the wiring loom and installed, it will be at full power. Due to my new map requesting 2.2 bar, I needed to get a better sensor from Bosch as the stock vRS sensors run out of puff at 2 bar.

Cool, cant wait to see what its running at.

You got a rough idea what the Mongrel putting out?

What performance gains are you expecting to see from this exhaust system?

As I experienced this morning, spool-up and the speed revs go up appears faster. I was having rather too much fun on my way to work this morning. :o It is likely to need adjusting in some way though as it does rattle quite a lot.

I've run mine without any exhaust at all (i.e. there was nothing attached) - and it was a tad more noisy  *and smoked like f*ck coz it had been parked up for a while).

Will get interesting :D

Well, my exhaust fell off today! Might explain the rattle!

Anyway - zorst place around the corner so the bolt which fell off was replaced with TWO bolts to ensure it didn't fall off again. More vibes though now it's attached properly. :)

I just laughed out loud at that comment!

Jason,

How come your car wont start very well? Lowered compression? No back pressure?

Just dont want to do anything to mine that will stop it from starting very well.

Thanks, Dave
