Help: VRS Glow Plug light stays off

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've got a 2004 VRS with a problem.

The Glow plug light on the dash stopped working a few months ago.

It's just been for a service and no faults were found during the diagnostics.

There are no problems starting even when it's been freezing outside.

Anyone got any ideas on what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance.

Could be the PCB surface mounted LED has blown. Can be replaced but it's a dash out job.

I wouldn't worry too much then, I don't use mine really even now, I just sturn the key and she's away!

Yeah, even in the coldest (UK) weather, it should go out in a few seconds. So just count to five between turning the key and starting the engine if you're at all worried.

Having said this, I had exactly the opposite problem (intermittently), which wouldn't record a fault code even though the light was stuck ON all the time. Turned out to be the coolant temp sensor on its way out - I only discovered this by running a diagnostic when the light wasn't on, which showed a 'pending' fault against the sensor...
