Odd bulges in headlights

Featured Replies

Hi I have a new vRS OCty and after showing a mate the car on the weekend he noticed that the headlights have a bulge/mild ridge running vertically....very hard to see, but when you run your hand left to right you can feel it. The Passenger side had a bigger one than the drivers (RHD) and the drivers was in a different spot....These seem way to obvious to be a defect...so guessing its something to do with the headlight beam aiming? These are just the halogen, not the Xenon.

Is yours a UK car, because UK ones use projector lights wether or not they are Xenon. If its UK then the actual front plastic cover has nothing to do with the headlight aim because the projector glass does this, and I suspect the same for the rest of europe. What you maybe seeing is warped plastic, which could be caused by heat, especially if you fitted an aftermarked HID kit.

It's an Australian Skoda which I suspect is the same as the UK. Nothing has been fitted to it, its a 2 day old car.

The ridges are mainly felt, one in each light and are in different spots in each light. Maybe they are malformed lenses, but they are so obvious the Stevie Wonder must have been doing QC that day.

Maybe take a photo and post them up

Not doubting Manny ;) , but surely a bulg on the cover will affect the light travel, eg like dirt on Xenon cars.

Got a new UK car with halogen lights and definitely no bulges, I looked this morning. they are flat across the front.
