Anything that isn't a natural multiple of the number of fixing holes, because it causes unpredictable and variable stress raisers in the centre boss.

I see.

But I expect it doesn't matter on a road car. Strong enough? Probably. Optimized? Clearly not.

I'd prefer the Mk4 Golf R32 wheels either in silver or anthracite myself.

Find me a genuine pair and I'll try that!

Reps are only £300 but I'm put off by the fact they're reps!

Also 18" tyres are a fair bit more expensive....

They will look ace.

Not keen on the look of the multi-fitment holes, but they still look ace.

Yeah that's the only thing I don't like. I wonder if you can get centre caps.

Funny you should say that. There's a set on Trademe at the moment (local equivalent of Ebay)

Looking at those - the R32s look really nice. But the black wheels give me a funny feeling in my trouser area :D

R32s powder coated black?

r32s powder coated black?

bingo!

Nah, having seen a few Octys with the R32 wheels, they do NOTHING for me. The spokes are too rounded and soft looking, and the Octy looks best with 17s imho.

Think this pic has been posted before;

Nice, on a red car theyd look good.

NICE i would say.

But it's up to you.

I'd go for them as well (on looks, particularly as you have a red car) and the consensus of opinion for them on 'looks' is positive BUT what about the technical benefits or negatives?

Who makes them? Are the quality or dross?

It has been said they are 17" but what rim width 7J, 7.5J or even 8J are they? This will have an effect on the handling depending on the tyres fitted.

How heavy are they? Fitting bigger wheels will often have a detrimental effect on the performance/handling of a car. I know; my vRS goes/feels better on my 17s than on 18s and having weighed both the 18s are 2.5kg per wheel/tyre heavier. More unsprung weight so suspension has to work harder and it blunts performance.

Worth consideration?

Definitely worth consideration. They're 7" wide.

The tyre place down the road is the local dealer so I'll have a chat tomorrow, see if they know about quality & weight.

Looks good, personaly think the red edgeing on the wheel is to wide needs to be thinner.

I think they would look really smart Rob

They look good but I think I would be swaying more for Black Pro Race 1.2's without the red rim.

Then again... what do I know :D

i like em on a red car as long as you get 19"s

black wheels look good, black wheels with the red stripe look good. but i'm not sure about the shape of the spokes, and i'm with tom on multi-fitment holes. how about a set of pro race 1.2s?

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better without the red bit
