cheapest way of lowering

Featured Replies

hi all. im looking to lower my vrs as i want to run 18s without it looking silly. but i still need it to be my "practical" car as my golf wont even get near my house. also i dont want to spend a fortune on coilovers etc and i wont ever cut a spring so does anyone know where i can get some cheap springs or is there any other car suspension that would fit ie mk4 golf?

Look for H&R springs.

Only aftermarket ones for the vRS specifically I think.

Available in a large range of heights, and about £140-150 I believe.

Awesome GTi can source them aswell.

My VRS Estate had 18's fitted with cheap lowering springs when I bought it, I removed them and put the standard wheels and springs back on because the ride was so bouncy and it handeled like a bag of ****! I may still have the springs knocking around the garage, you can have them for the cost of postage if I have, may have binned them though.

Hi

I am sorry , but the Octy is different weight than MK4 Golf , so the lowering will be all out

I am sorry

As has been said though , H&R are the only ones I have found that are vRS specific

£140 + VAT for the H&R springs , but at the moment we have got the AP coilovers quite cheap

These have been made so they fit the Octy`s too though

These are £297.87 + VAT too

I hope that helps?

Sarah

Bigger rims in the traditional silver, gold or white will visually lower a car anyway, by reducing the non-reflective gap between the rim and the top of the arch.

You'll probably find that they were for the mk4 Golf which as Sarah says is a different weight to the octy so they springs are't right for the car, which would explain the ****e handling.

Is yours an estate ??

If not there may be hurt in trying as I'm sure they would be wrong in this situation.

i knew a lad once that used to carry paving slabs around in his nova to make it lower. was slow as hell though

Or several overweight passengers :orb_lol:

and reducing mpg figures

There's an NZ TV show about the traffic police - I think you get it over there. I forget the name :D

Anyway I saw an episode a while ago where they pulled over an old Civic or something and the muppet driving it had completely removed the springs to lower it!!

Strangely, he and his mates walked home.
