Respray front end... How much do you think ?

Featured Replies

How much do you think (A fair price) it will cost to respray the front end of my Furby VRS Lemon Yellow so thats the...

Whole bumper, front arches and bonnet ???

Ive just got stone chips (Motorway driving) and I want it looking poo hot for summer

Wont be cheap, especially in Yellow. one of the hardest colours to match so it'll probably need blowing into the doors and A-pillar aswell..

Not to sound harsh, but you pay for what you get, so if you pay bugger all you'll probably get a naff job. Make sure you take it to a reputable place.

i had my bonnet resprayed when i got the roof done black. The bonnet alone was £250, I think the bumper would be the same, and then the wings and sill would need blending. i would say around £600. you might get a place to do it for £500-£550 cash.

without any damage to repair i'd say 3-400

I think the nearest approved dealer is in Leeds....

It's not driving on motorways that gives you stone chips, it's driving too close to the car in front.

Spray painting prices vary greatly. Unfortunately the dearest isn't necessarily the best job. I would ask several people who have had work done for recommendations. I've seen 5K resprays that have been poor, and complete re-sprays for £800 that were excellent.

Rough guide, Bonnet £250 wings £80 each, bumper £100. Ask if they can do the repair in Two Pack rather than water based, that way it won't chip so easy.

Agree with the above - get recommendations and see the work they've had done. Then take it from there. Basing a respray choice purely on cost is a bad idea IMO.

I know a great place called Cotswold Accident Repairs in Witney, he does the repairs for the Skoda dealership and Jaguar dealership there, did an excellent job on my bumper fix after I hit the fox but once again, it's in Oxford, not Wakefield, might be worth phoning him for a quote though, His name is Mark and his number is 01993 771144 say that Doug reccomended the place, may be able to reduce the price.

I've also got a recommended place a bit closer to you, if you're serious about it. Just over the Humber Bridge in North Lincs.

You want it waterbased,

Waterbase has to be lacquered by two pack lacquer.

The other option is having a 2 pack gloss base, which will eventually fade. (most bodyshops cant use this option anymore, unless they prove its for restoration or commercial use)

Stone chips arnt as straight forward as everybody thinks.

They have to be sanded back in most cases to metal, then etched, primed, flatted, based, lacquered, flatted, buffed. not a quick process.

Thats why its expensive.

That will be DM Keith though and theres no way Im ever doing business with those Pikeys again after the way they have treated me in the past.

Interesting thread, been thinking exactly the same myself (silver vrs) as mine is peppered with stonechips, and wouldnt mind getting the bonnet done at least.

I wonder if a black bonnet would look odd on a silver vrs ??

Make sure they do all this if you find a cheap job! I viewd a Lupo GTI before getting my vRS that had been accident repaired and you could actually see deep sctraches and stone chips as dipps in the new paint.. it'd had the front and rear fixed really badly!

Still, I did go to view the car at a bodyshop.. it was the owners sons... Yeah, I walked away! LOL!
