Cruise Control behaviour :(

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before, just started since I picked it up after a respray.

What happens is I make my way up to speed, say 50 mph, activate cruise control, everything working fine. Next I decide to speed up a mph or 2, by sliding the slder to the left (+). This seems to cancel the cruise control and car starts to slow. Has only happened last 2 times I've gotten into my car from cold (freezing).

Strange thing is, after 10 mins or so, the + button seems to start working again and not cancelling the cruise control! Weird!

Any ideas oh great ones?

dunno if you are or not, but that switch actually only has to be moved slightly to increase you speed if you move it across it all the way it will cancel the cruise, you should feel abit of resistance when moving the switch but if it clicks then you have moved it too far and canceled it, if that makes sense lol

On my stalk you need to slide it to the right until it clicks to turn off cruise control.

Think it is the standard stalk as it was fitted when the car was manufactured.

it should be reset all the way to the left and fully off on the right u are correct, and a slight movement of the button to the left should nudge the speed up, mine also makes a noticable noise when you go fully left, i know there are a couple of different stalks available too

Could be a faulty stalk, certainly not unheard of.

It sounds like you have the early stalk which I have heard can be problematic. If you hook it up to vag-com you would be able to check the function of the stalk.

The later stalk is part number 1J0 953 513 01C

And looks like this:

Yep, that's the one I've got.

Think I may live with it till next service, although I have been meaning for a while to get my laptop connected to the car, but need to research what equipment and software I need to do it.

The only thing I think that may have caused a problem is when I got the car back, both my A and B computer reading had been reset, so makes me think the battery was disconnected for a while. May try disconnecting it again and see if it makes any difference.

what does the cruise indicator on the dash do during this process?

If the switch is a bit iffy you will see the tell-tale indicator flash off momentarily while you move the switch, that will drop it out of cruise mode.

Mine started playing up when it was cold, but now, some time later, it wont hold cruise active unless you squeeze the switch, so i will have to dismantle the switch one day to fix it.

I don't have any dash light to indicate cc, think because it's the old version?

Any Skoda pre 2008MY doesnt have a light for cruise.
